From Comb Hill. Faint ATV trackclose to low fence. KeithByTheC07/09/2023
Solo. From Mosspaul (layby on east side of road). Construction work in progress at Mosspaul. Across field to S and then a track; it goes up a broad ridge going SW but peters out. Easy to continue to summit of Wisp Hill.pwbellarby15/06/2023
From Eweslees. Straight up from the A7 over Frodaw Hill, various hags to the summit of Pikethaw. Quite a drop and then up to Wisp Hill. Straight down via Whin Hill to start. Parked in layby just north of Eweslees.jigglybones02/10/2022
Start from Cattle Grid 377021. up the main track to Comb Hill, then on to Whisp Hill, return by the same route. From comb Hill to Whisp Hill ATV tracks.smocks and denims28/09/2022
Parked on A7 northbound at a blue P layby. Boolards have been installed at both sides of entrance to Eweslees. Solid white line along A7. Used Gills advice re route. Wore hi viz tabard. Up track past bungalow and before main lot of farm buildings, across stream on a bridge. Looked for a grassy way ….disappointed. Waist high braken , to reach a grassy runnel, having to gingerly get across a tight barbed wire fence…..dont they need hills access for the sheep. Any heart rate at max, slowly plodding up to Frodaw Height , lumpy bumpy tussocks, with some squishy parts. Huge cairn on Pikethaw Hill. Looked for animal tracks and as Gill said, an ATV was found. V hig vegetation…..gate at bealach. Over Ewenshope Fell, Found and lost ATV to trig at Wisp Hill…..same , found , lost , found, etc….and ended walking though waist high braken. Maybe i need to invest in 1:25 mapping. Finally on level ground, through two flat fields, with gates , climbed at hinges, as tied shut with twine…..tups in fieldVerySlowPlodder13/09/2022

Parked in layby at about NY 391975 (12:00). Crossed river on road bridge by entrance to Eweslees and climbed grass slope to Frodshaw Height. Followed faint track by fence to the large summit cairn (13:10). Continued down to Ewes Doors and then up to Wisp Hill (14:30). Descended over Whin Fell to the road just north of the layby (15:10). Sunny, warm weather; good though slightly hazy views.dbb22/04/2021
Parked on the bridge on the S-bound side of the A7 (do not park on the N side it obscures the farm exit). Through Eweslees farm, paddled the river, then up an ATV track and step over the fence onto the E ridge of Frodaw Height. Easy, dry grass to the top of FH but the top is a foul bog/hag fest. Fortunately this is the only bad part of the walk and an ATV track on the S side of the fence conveys you easily to Pikethaw Hill, huge cairn. Animal tracks down the N ridge on the E side of the fence, swapping to the W side part way down for an easy ATV track. Up Wisp Hill very easily using an ATV track through the bogs on the S side of the fence. Down is easy, a bearing in mist will bring you to the ATV track heading down the S ridge over Whin Fell. Gates bring you across the fields to the silage bags at the entrance to Eweslees.Gill23/01/2020

With Pikethaw from layby on A7AndrewFinnimore16/11/2014
Done in conjunction with Pikethaw Hill, two Marilyns. Parking was in a cutting next to the A7. A day of strong wind and driving rain that did not relent for a single minute. There is a tiny corrugated roofed hut (well half a hut anyway) at Gd: 371987, which is at the col named ewes Doors. It provided a brief respite from the weather and a place to munch my sarnies before climbing Pikethaw Hill. two great hills.thenomad18/02/2014
Last of circuit from Mosspaul. Simple ascent from Pikethaw and easy descent to Mosspaul. Cold, misty and drizzle. Rough groundThearlaichdubh12/10/2013
Started from A7 layby 392975 (no legal parking nearer Eweless) and scrambled up the steep roadside netting, not a good idea unless you want your fingers cut and there is a barbed fence above the netting. Thereafter easy. On to Pikethaw.Topographer5728/02/2013
