Starting in caunton on 46 mile bike ride. Followed byway next to train track then up path had to get off and push up this hill. Nice viewpoint from the top and a great downhill from hereThe-Z-Man24/02/2024
Dedicated car park to the south west. A clear solid track leqds up to within 10m from the diorama. A further 25m into the field to the actualhighest point. As a matter of interest, why create a diorama then plant trees blocking the view!!moorsman23/11/2023
From car park to SW.PGCE07/10/2023
Nice little top, steep descent off east side cooked the brakes.visionset24/08/2023
After exploring Boughton Brake railway tunnel, headed here for a short hill bag. Cleared a load of litter off the toposcope as well.DanHolme01/06/2022
From car park to SW circular walk. In contrast to the horrible smell pervading Redgate Woods, on the summit here the pleasant smell of fish n chips was wafting up from the village. Trees below the summit have grown to prevent you from seeing most of what the viewing plaque points out.Nick Canute25/02/2022
Third bing if the day and the nicest - lots of trees.Wycombe Wanderer15/10/2021
From car park, up track and then over fence to HP in long grass, not far from toposcope.PeterD26/08/2021
Leave free car park towards railway and follow hard path keeping to left at all times. Summit cairn is on right in grassed area. Good views from top.Meanderer23/08/2021

Round of 4 hills from Nottingham 107.1km. Willoughby Hill, Golden Hill, Ollerton Pits Wood and finished with Burstheart Hill. Called via the major oak too, but robin hood was out. All fairly straight forward having read other logs.Nicky C24/04/2020

Circuit from small car park to SW . Bet it looked different here 60 years ago - forestry all around now instead of pits. Only thing is they planted all trees same instead of mixing them , and all coniferous.Mark Sims02/02/2018
Easily up from car park to topograph then over fence into wet grass for topBramley16/09/2017
Straightforward ascent on track from carpark. Pleasant landscaping of old mining spoil heap.JohnW18/12/2016

From the Thackramobile where post hill consumption of Mrs T's apple pies went down extremely well.Smudge23/04/2016
From car park to SW. Agree that the high point seems to be just over the fence to the SW of the topograph.Wheelsy19/04/2016
Bright sunny day with frost and snow. Morning 190 mile trip from Manchester to recomplete Nottinghamshire. Back home at 1150 for lunch, before heading for the new Wrexhan tump by Bryn AlynGordonAdshead17/04/2016
Nice day. Good views. Up from south, down to north to catch bus at the Harrow Inn on the Tuxford Road.Moorponder31/03/2016
Completed Nottinghamshire for the second time in a month!! From the car park to the west of hill. Pleasant early morning stroll up an excellent path. Another of Nottinghamshire's reclaimed coal tips. They do a good job on them.Campbell Singer25/03/2016
From car park to SW. Thought high point was about 25m WSW of topo in field. Would be a really nice park if it wasn't for litter and dog-muck.Aye Jimmy23/03/2016
Borrowed my mum's car to drive from Nottingham to Ollerton before my shift started at 14.30. Parked in the conveniently located car park at the foot of the hill. Did circuit using paths. Summit appears to be just over the fence, a few metres south of the topograph. Pleasant and now well-used amenity. Saw several people out and trails take in a much larger area including a former marl pit and now a lake. Great place for dogs to roam.Dazingdale17/03/2016
From WSW, car park, good path to summit, Topograph, summit quite level with HP at fencepost S of topo, or thereabouts. GPS recorded an ascent of 91-47 = 44m from car park; col not investigatedRHW11/03/2016
