Gate off moorhowe lane onto access land but the walls within access land require care. Great views. Returned through fields direct to road minimises wall crossing.cjo14/01/2024
Best accessed from the east where a gate leads directly onto the OAL at N54 24.277 W2 54.441. Bagged while on a 10km loop from Holehird gardens carpark and out the fell gate.RowanP13/05/2023
There is no access between the access-land field to the south of the access-land field containing the high point. Sadly, the gate south of the big cairn leads into a non access-land fieldAlan Moore01/12/2022
2 hr circular walk L from our housesit across the valley at Troutbeck which looks out across to the Garburn fellside and the beautiful tress and autumnal bracken. Paths up through Limefitt Holiday park to Garburn Track to head south - detour through gate to unlisted on HS 288m summit (Dubbs Beck Top?) which must be close to P20. Many mountain bikers heading uphill - rain forecast all day - should be here by now - we had our skates on to beat it -sky was grey and breezy but mild - I was down to a t-shirt. Best to seek field gate @150m S of Dubbs Dam to gain easy grassy ways through bracken to summit -all access land. Easy descent SW via field gateways to road. Next up was the lovely little Allen Knott (P20) on NT land - fine viewpoint. Paths back up to Troutbeck as rainfall now came on good and proper. Postponed a visit to the soggy marques of the Troutbeck Pumpkin Festival -gamely set up again for a week in the valley bottom despite a torrid time with gales and floods last year.Chris Pearson23/10/2022
Drove up Dubb's Road and parked by the reservoir. Route very slow during bracken season so allow yourself plenty of time. After leaving the road and fording the small stream I found the easiest route was up the valley between he twin summits. Top is the one without the cairn (on the right).moorsman06/08/2022
Parked at the end of Dobbs Road and went to Sour Howes, Capple Howe and Sallows with Latrigg on the way back.clivevilla19/06/2022
Diversion from Dubbs Rd, on way from Sallows to a lay-by on the Ings Rd at 426003. Route and comments as Denise, except the bracken was flattened by early March. There was a Whooper Swan on Dubbs Reservoir. Fine day in the Lakes with a very good view of the S.Fells and Langdale from HP and cairn.pwheeler04/03/2022

There are two possible summits- an outcropping slab and a large cairn on rock but the northernmost slab is the highest per the Abney. Lucky, as the cairn was engulfed in a swarm of flies. We reached the summit from the NE corner of the access land-much high bracken- but our descent route, which went south of summit, then NE to a gate into Dubbs Lane was better and less vegetated.Denise 05/09/2021
From track to E up through brambles and bracken. Fine if hazy views. With Denise, Tony & Zoe.RichardM05/09/2021

Up and down the south side of the wall from the track to the south of Dubbs res.Eddie22/11/2020
2/3 Parked near Borrans Lane, quick nip up Banner Rigg via the track to reservoir and up side of hedge. Over the wall to left of the corner high but good through. Then back to car picked up rucksacks and along Dubbs Road to gate up to Latrigg, down the other side of Latrigg via gaps in wall and gate (no climbing needed) and along Longmire Road, drop to Troutbeck, along Nanny Lane and The Hundreds to Dod Hill, (1 easy Wall) exit North East (another easy Wall) pick up track through new planted trees to Kirkstone Pass Road, down Bridleway in Beautiful Hird Wood, crossed river at Ing Bridge and all the way back Longmire Lane to car. A cracking circuit picking up missed hills.nickywood104/10/2020
Grabbing some caches after the Kentmere horseshoe.AvidSockWearer15/06/2019
Parked at start of Dubbs Lane, which is used legally by motor cyclists. Ascended to the summit cairn from gate before reaching the reservoir. Land to the north near a crossing wall looked at least as high, but that on the other side of the wall, which has no crossing point was lower. Hence there is no need for crossing walls.JohnW27/04/2019

Walking with the Magna Defender. Fusethwaite Yeat (273m), the Tongue of Troutbeck Park (364m)and looping back over Thornthwaite Crag (784m), Ill Bell (757m) and Yoke (706m) and Sour Howes (483m). It is a beautiful clear and sunny still day perfect for autumn fell walking in the Lakes.meltdiceburg17/11/2018
Parked at the start of Dubbs Lane, then along this until gate allows easy access to hill. Return to Lane the onward to Sour Howes and Capple Howe on another warm sunny day in May.Dugswell229/05/2018

As others, Drove the BOAT to reservoir, walked up from there. Thought the outcrop 25m N was higher. Also wandered across to the large cairn 160m S, which looks at least as high, but is apparently 1m lower.jonglew15/06/2017
With Alf. Gate on main track south of Resrvoir gives easy access to fell.mick21/02/2017

From Dubbs Lane. A gate into the summit field eventually arrives.jimbloomer20/09/2016
From Moor Howe, Dubbs Lane past wood then over wall and bracken up to large cairn. The summit appears to be on hill to the NNW, a rounded rocky outcrop with couple of stones, or another one 25m beyond.Aye Jimmy05/09/2016
Did this one a few years back after walking the Grandsire trio. Approached via The Common, Moor Howe and Dubs Road. Thought it was just about a separate hill then. Nice viewpoint and lovely walking in the area between here and Windermere.Jake99424/10/2013
