Same route as PGCE | PeterD | 08/03/2024 |
As clivevilla except I didn't bother with the reservoir- the ground E is clearly higher. The open pasture with 'access only by permission' and nice views S seemed out of sight from houses but my presence would have been belied by the sika and roe deer that scattered from the wood | pwheeler | 11/02/2022 |
Parked in lane to SW. Walked up lane, then track to reservoir. Continued to vegetated highpoint beyond reservoir. | PGCE | 11/07/2021 |

Stockbridge Hike (bagging Woolbury, Cleave Hill, Danebury Hill and Chattis Hill) | PhilipChaston | 03/04/2021 |
Parked in a layby on the lane to the SW at 31708 36051. Up the lane to a gate, across a pasture and into the woods. The reservoir compound has a fairly easily scaled gate and there are two other possible HPs all on the same GR to the east. | clivevilla | 23/02/2020 |
From the west. The Restricted Access and Permission Needed sign gives no phone number. As a consequence, a smart young man was waiting at my car on return. He made the No Access point firmly but with good manners and I tried to explain that it was a quick up and down and I was unlikely to return. He mentioned horse gallops but there was no sign of horses. Anyhow, I showed him some respect and was treated by him respectfully. | Campbell Singer | 25/05/2019 |
From gateway to west. | Herbert Anchovy | 23/04/2018 |
From west. Heap of partially vegetated chalk over tops natural hp by 1m; however the summit seems to have been modified to an extent. Covered resr is built on lower ground. | RHW | 17/12/2016 |
From the W along reservoir access track. Chalk mound looks very artificial. HP in woodland E of covered reservoir. | jonglew | 08/12/2016 |
Prior to my final Hampshire TuMP day a hunt on geograph for any additional possibilities came up with a teasing 196m col spot height and surprising 127m summit spot height for Chattis Hill on 1:10000 but only 125m on 1:50000 ? Post my visit report of manmade summit mounds there was a lot of sterling work by others on the TuMP forum and database team using old maps and Lidar trying to decide on the height of the summit. It was actually discounted on the changes list before a surprisingly lower col spot height just above 195m swung the day for being accepted as p31m | Chris Pearson | 05/12/2016 |
