A pleasant circular from the car park just off A-road. The 'road' to the top of the hill is a bit bumpy! We did a circular of the hill taking in the summit. Nice views from the top. The Carluddon Pyramid nearby looking quite prominent with it's Cornish flag on top. 2 of 4 today. Before we bagged Hensbarrow Downs and afterwards we drove to and bagged Helman Tor and The Beacon in Bodmin. | DanTrig | 16/10/2022 |
Access to the car park is from the A391. Took me a while to find it. | Adrian | 12/07/2022 |
Wandered over the various high point contenders. Atop the largest standing stone is my suggestion. | summitter | 13/04/2022 |
Trezaise - Hensbarrow Downs - Caerloggas Downs - Carluddon Pyramid - Carclaze Downs - St Austell. | Mark Jackson | 27/01/2022 |
In the dark to car park via a not to good track, almost on the top. Will go to precise summit in daylight. Great view down on the lights of St Austell. | vegibagger | 11/08/2021 |
drove car to viewpoint, then a wander around. | cjo | 21/06/2018 |
Parking to west. Up track and went to both stone circles. One to south seemed higher with HP just outside circle. | PeterD | 23/04/2018 |
Two circles of modern standing stones, one with metal post, within gorse and heather with informal paths. Probably Northern set higher. Views minimal in rain, low cloud and cold wind. Accessed from roundabout to south east on well used paths and then returned to Trethurgy village via marked RsOW . | Denise | 10/02/2018 |
Walked from Trethurgy via Carclaze Downs and the excellent Carluddon Pyramid. Access to hill from permissive path on S side at SX 0197,5594. Easily up to summit where there are 2 stone cicles ~150m apart and both on ground of similar height. Misty, light rain, cold. | RichardM | 10/02/2018 |
Walked up from the school at Treverbyn with Iain Brown to bag the stone circle and vehicle track area on a grey morning. | Dugswell2 | 10/03/2017 |
Small parking area just after cattle-grid. Narrow track leads SE up through bracken, gorse, bramble etc. Large flat top, fully vegetated. Stone circle seemed to be the HP, although old vehicle track at SX 01530 56340 must be a contender. | jonglew | 21/02/2017 |
Almost a country park - could have driven up as many had. | Chris Peart | 16/01/2017 |
I'll stick with the standing stone. In any case, the ground beneath the gorse looked no higher. | Colin Crawford | 16/01/2017 |
I did venture into the bramble and don't think the gorse is on higher ground. AD recorded 284m at SX 01638 56357 | RHW | 26/11/2016 |
Car park at bottom, paths and tracks up, nicely landscaped, kids learning to ride a trail bike on top, two stone circles, highest point in almost impenetrable gorse and bushes or the top of a standing stone, take your pick. | alda | 26/10/2016 |
