From Startfell plantation up the track then path. Random bell at summit duly rung. Cloud and rain eased for a view 3/4N.Morters16/03/2024
5th and final Manx Marilyn. I parked at the new car park on the south side of B10, at SC 3431 8661. I took the greenway on the north side, running up the west edge of the Snaefell Plantation, then cut off up the 2nd path on the west side to the summit. I was surprised to find a wooden post (circa 1.5m tall) with a cast iron Bell on it, any idea what that's for?? Returned via the same way, meet a guy and his border collie from the Highways Dept. He was cutting offlets along the greenway, much needed but a never ending job. Back to car 1:04hrs after starting.chillyman830/10/2023

I camped by a sheepfold between Sartfell and the Marilyn then used the mapped paths to gain the summit in late evening. A decent sunset over the Irish SeaColin Crawford03/09/2023

Repeat ascent. Traverse from Sulby to St John’s. Heathery path from track. Trig, cairn and bell on summit. Clear views of Snaefell, Scottish and Irish hills on sunny day as we ate lunch.Denise 28/09/2022

Verge parking for 3-4 cars (SC 3419 8661). Good track, suitable for 4wd vehicle, with narrow path through heather from the 405m spot height. On to Slieau Dhoo and picking up Sartfell on the return.jonglew06/12/2021
Quite intriguing summit with the bell, trig and quartz cairn. Nifty 11212 FB number too for an extra bonus touch.Alex C06/12/2021
From large car park at Sartfell Plantation. Up the by-way to join a very good, easy path up to the top. Loved the bell on the pole at the summit. Great views. Got back to car park to find that Jon Glew had parked his enormous 4WD about a quarter inch from my car, how very childish.Gill06/12/2021

Easy walk up from by Sartfell Plantation. Parking in layby. First section rocky then easy greenway. Path to summit diverges before the greenway track dips down. Can also go up/down the far side of the hill where there are barriers to stop off-road motorbikes. Saw a couple of motorbikes and cyclists on the greenway but generally very quiet. Excellent views on a sunny day across the North/West/South of the Island and across the Scotland / Wales.Jonnyiom08/08/2020
11 mile circular from Ballaugh. Followed road through Ravensdale then ascended through the Ballaugh plantation up to a moorland road. From here followed the green Lane to the foot of Slieau Dhoo, following tiny trails to the sizeable cairn on top. From here descended through heather back to the green Lane, followed this to junction passing Slieau Freoaghane and followed a trail onto Sartfell. A weird quartz landscape on top and even weirder telephone pole that someone must have carried up here..... from the summit headed across pathless terrain to summit of Slieau Freoaghane, then followed trail over Slieau Curn and back to Ballaugh. Perfect walking conditions for this time of year, clear and sunny with far reaching views of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Wales. Afterwards drove into Peel and bagged Corrins Hill.DanTrig21/10/2019
1 of 2: Parked opposite Sartfell Plantation. Crossed the road and followed the Greenway. Missed the start of the track through the heather. Path obvious on return, it joined the Greenway at 34416 87767. With Karen.ChrisR16/10/2019
Parked opposite plantation, tracks all the way. Sunny and clear.iangalbraith15/10/2019
Ascent from Ballagilley (the Hibernian) to Park Lewellyn, following the mountain wall, to summit North Barrule. Follow ridge to south west to Clagh Our and descent to Black Hut. Along the Verandah to Bungalow and ascent of Snaefell. Descent to north-east to Sulby Reservoir, and cross dam, through Tholt-e-Will Plantation to Druidale Road. Follow Green Road past Slieu Dhoo and then climb Slieu Freoaghane. Descent to Sartfell Plantation, follow Green Road via Slieau Maggle, Lhargee Ruy and descent to Crosby via Cronk Breck to Cronk ny Moghlane and return to road via Millenium Way to Ballaharry.raymooremanx13/07/2019

Path up from SC 3442 8777 - marked with stone arrow on ground as path indistinct, especially from track. There is a good path up from NE side from SC 3458 8861carole engel05/09/2018
4th tump of 9 on a 36.7km traverse from Sulby to Peel, climbing Cronk Sumark, Mount Karrin and Slieau Dhoo, descending S then Sw to join the path then off again to head up the crest to the summit where a young lad with a heavy rucksack stood eating his banana. I recorded the summit as 488m @ SC 34083 88361. This was my 9th tump on the Isle of Man and my 1st Marilyn. After a brief natter I continued South before profiling around to Sartfell...Dazingdale16/07/2018

After a walk on The Ayres on a windy day, the weather turned clearer and sunnier in the afternoon; good views of Galloway from the summit. Simple walk from Sartfell Plantation via 'green' road and path (care in noting junction) shown on 1/50K OS map. The top is a nice spot,on the edge of the high hills, overlooking farmland and the W coast. Note, in descent, a path going down the E ridge was more distinct- leads to the 'green' road with about 10-20m more ascent to return to starting point.pwheeler14/06/2017

From kirk Michael camp site which is very good but a bit open to the public. We camped in the field below the houses above the shop which is off the road. After viewing the Celtic crosses in the Church we managed to get a view. Returned the same way to the Mitre pub.mindlessflogger05/08/2014

From car park (16:00) by Montpelier Wood walked up SW side of river (path on other side!) in rain. Finally crossed & took path up to N-S track then pathless to top.Return similar route, more on path. Cold and wet; no view. Finish 17:10dbb11/04/2013
Wow, first time Isle of Man. Mountain roads all closed by deep drifts. Up B10 through 8ft drifts on single track, got parked at road head nr Sartfell plantation and ploughed up (literally) hillside to col between Sartfelland and Freoaghane. Easier going to summit. Superb views, diggers in action on B10 to Snaefell.nordicstar30/03/2013
Car parked at SC342866 Geoff (later M6PYG) and I did this one after Snaefell. A good steady walk beside the wood and then northwards to the summit.G4OOE23/10/2012

Parked at the start of the green way by Sartfell Plantation. Then dodged motorbikes to make the summit path. Good views to the NW but for thick black clouds for my descent.garyhoney05/09/2010
