Cambrian Way Stage 21. Extreme weather on ultimate day. Solo.Rob Rees08/03/2024
Went down from Carnedd Dafydd very rocky and low visibility from clouds and it was getting dark as well, cold and windy at the top but there was a shelter, part of long 10 mile walk. With Dad and Ptol.speedyclimber31/10/2023
From Carnedd Dafydd along Cambrian Way. Clouds and darkness were closing in so no views unfortunately. This is much harder than Snowdon! We took the same route back to Pen yr Ole Wen then stayed on Cambrian Way down to the road as we didn't fancy the scramble down in the dark. Lost the path a few times on the descent. About 10 mile round trip in all! With Tol and FelixRoguePulsar31/10/2023
Lunch on top of Carnedd Dafydd then around the cliffs and straight up top of Llewelyn. Great views of the whole of northern Snowdonia from the top. Down to A5 on winding path from saddle towards Helgi Du.Stuzinho23/09/2023
Four furths with Richard Moore, Jason Fulton and Karen Webber, on OMC trip to Snowdonia. Parked on A5 at trees in Glen Dena. Headed up Pen yr Ole Wen (978m) first, then Carnedd Dafydd (1044m), followed by an outing to Yr Elen (962m) finishes on Carnedd Llewelyn (1064m). Descended via Llugwy Reservoir and walked back along the A5, 7:10hrs all in.chillyman821/09/2023

10.6 mile out-and-back from car park at end of road near Llyn Eigiau. We followed the good track NW around the end of the Cefn Tal-Llyn-Eigiau ridge then after the 2nd wall heading SW a good trail starts ascending to Craig Eigiau summit. We followed it across the surprisingly un-boggy Gledrffordd moor and ascended to col between Carnedd Llewelyn and Foel Grach. Then it's an easy rocky ascent onto Carnedd Llewelyn's summit (2nd time bagged). Great views in all directions but a bit hazy today. We then descended through easy rocks and stones from summit onto the Yr Elen ridge and easily onto it's summit. We retraced our steps and climbed part way back up Llewelyn joining our outward route, then descended back to car park pretty much the same way. 903m ascent throughout. Not many people about on this lovely sunny day. Afterwards we drove just down the road and bagged Waen Bryn-Gwenith.DanTrig15/06/2022

Round of Carnedd Llewelyn, Pen yr Helgi Du, Pen Lithrig Wrach and Craigiau Gleision from Gwern Goch Isaf. Up the hydro road then steep but decent path E of reservoir up onto SE ridge. A short but awkward scramble followed, not too steep but bare rock with weak holds. Thereafter gentle sloped short grass.Topographer5724/08/2019
A hot sunny and humid day giving superb views throughout the walk. With E from Gern Gif Isaf Farm (parking £2) up grassy paths as far as Pen yr Helgi Du then solo. E didn’t fancy ridge and rock band and I think it was the sensible option - tough! Continued up to Carnedd Llywelyn, Carnedd Dafydd and Pen yr Ole Wen. Very steep and long descent to Afon Lloer and Glan Dena.Beeliner23/07/2019

Continued on from climbing Pen yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd to this the highest mountain in the Carnedau range. Really steep gravelly climb, zig zagging up to a flat open summit. Very exposed and rocky. Superb views of North Wales on a clear day, can see Shropshire in very far distance and all the great mountains of Wales.giant_hiker22/06/2019
