Site visit and failed attempt. The coastal path from Burnmouth gets you to above the rock itself, though views are quite elusive until you pass to the north. Looking down, I wondered if there might be the ghost of a chance so I struggled with difficulty down to the shore, a very dodgy descent on exceedingly steep grass. From the base of the stack, I managed a fairly easy scramble up the first section, then at a harder grade until just over half way. I gave up at that point as it was clear that the vertical slab above and a possibly overhanging summit tower wouldn't go without the protection of a rope - a pity as the grade didn't look too difficult, probably not much more than V Diff at most. I scrambled down without problems but then had to face the re-ascent of the steep grass and rock scarp above me, which certainly offered a few worrying momentsColin Crawford12/07/2020
