first ascent, sunny, 2 in party, 20.5km day. started from barnesmore gap, followed forestry tracks, fire break to open hillside and summit of croaghbrack, some floating bog by black lough, then croaghervaddy summit. then browns hill and croaghnageer, steep descent toillanicrooney lough and up a shallow grass gully to pt 534 and onto croaghanirwore. descend through peat hags and several small lochans to croghagranaghs summit. crossed rough ground & descended to the barnes river, then climbed up to croaghconnellaghs summit cairn, descent the ne ridge, costing the lowerymore river and back up to the forest track. | rum doodle | 02/05/2010 |
