9th top of 11 on a 24km traverse from Beddgelert forest intersection with the A4085, straightforward from Ffridd Bach. Afterwards i headed over to Sw top then continued South on a fp of sorts heading for Goed Gorllwyn...Dazingdale28/09/2023
Parked at Llyn Cwmystrad dam, used FP [part overgrown with bracken and then track to col between Moel Ddu and hill to S, then up short grass, sometimes path, over subsidiary top and did both summits, just in case, though N-most looks higher.IanHHill02/09/2023
Stopped off for tea & scones at Tyddyn-mawr. Parked in the car park at Llyn Cwmystradllyn dam. Path along lake then up hill to join hill road. Through two gates to double summit. With Jill. We met Des Marshall at the café on the way back and Jill got a signed copy of his book; Walking The Llyn Hills.Dangerous Dave20/07/2023
Parked at Llyn Cwmystradllyn. Path along the Lake then to the south if the Quarry. Up ridge on path to RHS of wall, then oath not on map to summit. Back to path heading SE, then along a wall (cutting a corner from the RoW), then picking up ROW to Ynys Wen, then ROW nitth back to dam. 5 mile circuit.JulieB09/06/2023

Moel-ddu and Bryn Banog from Porthmadog.rhalstead01/01/2023
Up from Prenteg where I was staying used RoW to get to col with Ffridd Bach which was duley visited. Paths surprisingly dry considering the recent rain and great views of the Moelwyns and a flooded Glaswyn valley.garyhoney29/12/2022

Parked at Llyn Cwmystradllyn for a nice walk taking in the summits of Bryn Banog and then Moel ddu following the path around the reservoir and through the quarry Six mile in Three and half hours. The farm at the start also has a cafe for refreshments after you have finished.WAYNE ROWLETT18/09/2022
Parked at dam to west, along track to north of reservoir and up Bryn Banog first. Good path up from col near quarry. Over SW top to Fridd Bach and back to car park via Ynys Wen making good circular walk.PeterD17/08/2022
From dam in Cwmystradllyn. Up via slate quarries. Fabulous views of mountains around Beddgelert.richwales21/07/2022
From NT CP at Aberglaslyn Bridge. Up through the trees on NT trail then traverse west to RoW. Up RoW to stile then up the wall to Bryn Banog. Followed roods alongside walls to link to Moel-ddu. Back down the wall to the ladder stile at the col, then RoW back.Moorponder09/07/2022
Up and back from Aberglaslyn. Tough terrain and faint paths on this ascent but a good viewpoint especially to Moelwyns.twg2725/06/2022
Ascent from Llyn Cwmystradllyn and Ynys-wen, descent via Gorseddau Quarrygmoseley8804/06/2022
With Rufus, from A498 at Cerrig-y-Rhwydwr, space for a few cars on the bend. Walked up road 200m N and took ROW on left to Gelly-lydan, followed wall then spur NW to base of the SE ridge/face. Scramble ascent of ridge linking together lovely rough slabs and broken craglets for around 250m. Easier ground to summit, descended fairly directly S to ROW at spot height 258m and back across to approach. Lovely mountain, sea level start, great but unrecorded scrambling.jacobrichmond25/04/2022
Parked at the side of the road by footpath track after Prenteg. On the road towards Berdd Gelert. The track gets lost in the overgrowth so it's handy to have a map or GPS. It's easy to get lost in the thick cloud up there. Was very windy and wet in the clouds, poor visibility. Did Goed Gorllwyn on the way back.Skarletk03/02/2022

Cleared on summit with views to coast. From M.Hebog with interesting descent from M.Hebog via SW ridge dropped to c500m, but cliff bands still fairly continuous, but made way through them.davechaffey10/05/2021
After Hebog by obvious route. Down to Beddgelert after. Even windier than Hebog on top (40mph? 45?) but sunny. Rounsfell18/09/2020
Moel-ddu and Bryn Banog from the NT car park at Nantmor. Good views of Snowdon and the Moelwyns. 10km with 770m ascent in 4 hours. (S)silveracorn_alan17/09/2020
Tremadog, up road and paths to Glan Gors, then along track to Gorllwynuchaf. Onto ruined farm and up south face of Moel-ddu. Returned down south-west ridge to road and past Erwsuran to TremadogFlatfield16/09/2020
Difficult walk on a boiling hot day. From the car park at Aberglsyn. Paths very hard to locate on the way up, much clearer from the perspective of descent. This is a lovely summit with incredible view, but not an easy walk for the heightLazylizzie15/08/2020
Having done Moel y Dyniewyd, impromptu decision (with permission from CD) to then go up Moel Ddu from Aberglaslyn. Rough route, path is hit and miss. Good views across to Gorseddau Quarry, then stunning views of Llyn and Eryri. Then South for pickup at Prenteghuwthomas28/07/2020
From parking on minor road at 563429 at sharp bend, enough for a couple of cars. Used hill track through lower fields and 3 stone styles topped with wooden slats. Then up path along broad grassy ridge. All walls easily crossed with styles and or gates. Wall useful to almost summit as cloud and light rain. Easy going on grass.N.Morters22/07/2020
From Tyddyn-mawr via Ynys-wenIWC29/11/2019
Round of Moel Hebog and Moel-ddu from SW starting at tea room at Tyddin Mawr. Humid windless ascent from north, then caught heavy shower descending through waist high bracken.Topographer5702/08/2019
Parked near river and followed path along to bridge. Along the road and cut up through woodland. Enjoyed seat in log cabin on way up. Arrived in clagelizyanne22/07/2019

From Tyddyn-mawr via Ynys-wen.Easy route, unlike the previous day when I had failed to penetrate a sea of bracken on an approach from the NE.NormanW13/07/2019
A Marilyn round from Beddgelert, visiting Moel Hebog, Moel-ddu, and Moel y Dyniewyd. Also took in Bryn Banog on the route between Moel Hebog and Moel-ddu. Altogether 22.7km with 1530m ascent, taking 8h 20m.silveracorn_alan10/05/2019
From Nantmor CP (£4.00). Moel-Ddu & its W top visited first - then back to CP & on to Moel Y Dyniewyd (there is a path through heather from high point of pass). Moel-Ddu is an excellent hill with super summit views - I basically followed the mapped path but made the mistake of not crossing the FB early on in the forest & following a signed path that is not mapped.ger27/03/2019
From Aberglaslyn . Struggled to find the right path as bracken etc still in full growth, although my map reading may have been the fault. Instead headed up by wall at western side of Aberglaslyn forest. Faint path but tough going.trimarc207/10/2018

From Dam parking, vague path then good track up Ynys-wen, track end then up S ridge to top of Ffridd Bach easy path across to Two tops of Moel-ddu, ineresting gap between. great views all round, Steeply down to impressive old Gorseddau Quarry, tramway back to parking. Excellent weather.apricorum25/03/2018
As Doddhofmeister I felt obliged that I should climb a 500m hill today in tribute to the Master of tickling sticks Ken Dodd, who passed away yesterday. Really lovely day for it too, with the fine new Tump Coed Hafod-y-Llyn also visited to start with. Very pleasant in just a T-shirt sat in the sun waiting for the bus in Tremadog.Twice Shy13/03/2018

Finally made it.. theres been a couple of previous days where for one reason or another I never got here..So despite the cloud obscuring most of the view was pleased to finally get here. Quite why I decided to head back to the lake direct off the limited paths I will never know. Not recommended. For such a modest hill Moel Ddu is a bit of a pig to get to.stig_nest25/08/2017
Tried to park in NT car park but it was full but in the end found a small lay by on A498 at SH 59327 44889 which proved very good as we made our way up the steep track (poss private) just north of there to join the footpaths then skirt around Moel Ddu anticlockwise and attack the summit from the west.Pretty wet underfoot at times. A surprisingly strenuous climb probably as the start point is so low.Father Ted19/08/2017

Boggy cloudy walk from Beddgelert (with Arlo)wychwood03/08/2017
Walked up from the reservoir from the west up to Bryn Banog first, then down and up to here. The right of way along the southern edge of the lake on the way back is interesting...Neolith16/07/2017
With Trefor. Parked at NT car park off the A4085. Path through woods . The path marked with arrows is not the one shown on the map. Found ourselves on the open hillside on the North side of Aberglaslyn Woods and a long walk over rough ground to get to the hill. Rough walking all the way. Found the correct route for the descent. When following the path from the road through the woods a left turn to the bridge across the stream takes you on the correct ascent.mike.hoult22/06/2017
From Llyn Cwmystradllyn reservoir west of the summit. Not easy due to bracken, tussocks, bramble and marsh grass. No discernible path for 50% of the walk. A nice summit with far reaching views once reached with some rocks to get behind for shelter. Visited with judy55cat and our dog Treacle.G4OBK (Phil)12/06/2017
