From Ysbyty Ifan. Interesting summitJamesD197214/05/2018
From start of bridleway up from Llyn Celym, easy as far as Boeth, then tried to avoid track deviation and reascent by direct ascent of SW face, which was carpeted in thick and soft mossy heather covering leg twistingly uneven terrain.Topographer5705/05/2018
Llyn Celyn through forest to footpath via Nant-y-Coed to Waun Garnedd-y-Filiast to Carnedd y Filiast to Carnedd Llechwedd-llyfn to Arenig Fach. Descend via east ridge to Llyn Celyn. Clear weather, but cold and windy. Saw nobody all day. Walked solo. Once past Carnedd y Filiast, the route was mainly pathless and very rough going ... bogs and tussock grass! Arenig Fach a nice wild mountain with a fine corrie tarn, though the others were rather forgettable lumps!jamessteel10005/04/2018
An easy walk made challenging by nasty weather, sleet turning to heavy rain, and windy. Good parking at the bridleway/forest track that leads up over the shoulder of Foel Boeth, then a surprisingly long way down to the ford over the Nant y Coed, and then up onto the hill, and all the way to the summit. No worries about the mist, the navigation is a doddle.Gill26/11/2017

Cycled over from Blaenau train station and then proceeded to bag Pen Garneddwen and Foel Boeth before coming up here. Got caught out a little bit by the quite considerable reascent on the track off the moors and as a knock on result I ended up missing the train home from Betws by just five minutes. Decided to keep going and cycled back the remainder of the way to Llandudno. Oh, and when I eventually arrived at Carmen Silva Road Maria was waiting for me with all my bags packed and swiftly proceeded to give me the elbow :(. Still, at the end of the day, it was a particularly fine walk and I enjoyed it really very much.Twice Shy28/09/2017
With Val in wet conditions and no view. Parked at car park at LLyn Celyn dam. Trouble following footapths to start but got onto the track to Cwm Hesgyn and a good track almost to summit. Returned same route until Cwm Hesgyn then had more problems following route to road.mike.hoult11/08/2017
As part of Nuttall walk 6.2, with Penda, 6.5 hours. Easy thanks to track and path. Nice hill!beorwulf08/07/2017

Floundered a bit in the mist and swamp from Llechwedd-llyfn without map or compass, probably near spot height 631. Mist briefly cleared and got back on track. As I got to the summit the mist suddenly cleared. Who dares wins. Bloody wretched hack back. Doesn't anybody walk these hills? Good view from Foel Boeth with cloud inversions and orange sea. 2 hours 15 mins.Wycombe Wanderer15/09/2016

From free parking area near dam. Used PF`s up onto moor then tracks to just S of Foel-boeth summit. Then up to summit & across moor to Carnedd Llechwedd-llyfan. Dry underfoot after all the sunshine. Alternative summit presumed to be cairn by fence. Then followed fence to Carnedd-y-Filiast & Waun Garnedd y Filiast.mart079703/06/2016

Continuation of walk from Craig yr Hafod. Followed sheep paths down to Llyn Hesgyn, crossed the outflow, and then very hard going up to join the track to the summit. Walk continued to Foel-boeth. Solo.Man of Kernow123/04/2016

Last hill of the year.jenx31/12/2015
With Jenx, last Marilyn of a busy hill year. Parked at the bottom of track by lake and walked easily all way to summit. Very straightforward. Diverted then to pickup all minor tops inc Nutalls and the Dewey with direct descent back to track. Would have been ok to have gone up that way, heather cutting operations and grassy sections made for easy going desite wind and rain we encountered there.nordicstar31/12/2015
From CP on A4212, along forest track and out onto hillside. Over Foel-boeth (after checking it was not a Tump), and on to summit. Returned by good track. If you are only doing Filiast follow the track and save wading through the thigh deep heather, billberry and moss!tim74701/10/2015
Up forestry track which soon runs out so left with gorse and briar and no track until wall found then quickly up to Pen Garneddwen, deep heather and wet to Foel-boeth then Carnedd Llechwedd-llyfn [Llechwedd-llyfn] then trough of Bowland damp walk to Carnedd y Filiast then Waun Garnedd-y-Filiast then back to start of track which was followed to road to avoid further deep heather and bog. A very good choice of return route.Dugswell207/09/2015
Started from car park by Llyn Celyn walked up good lane, bagged Foel-Boeth, Carnedd Llechwedd Llyfn, Carnedd y Filiast and took lane back to car drove around and bagged the notorious Arenig-Fach.DanTrig17/07/2015
En route to a holiday in Abermawr we stop in Pentre Foelas for lunch and are enticed - From Pont Calefwyr we cross the high upland fields of sheep and cattle to Cerrigellgwm Isaf the follow the old drovers road to Bwlch Blean-Y-Cwm-Waun (Kites and Cookoos on the way in the plantation. Now its off piste - over the springy grass - peaty soils - black lakelets - with white quartz outcrops to a brooding summit with intermitant views as gaps in the swerling grey cloud constently shift providing sunny glimpses of distant hills beyond.briandavies20/06/2015
With Minnie. From layby parking to good track start at 859 411, then heather & vague tracks to Foel-boeth, then vague & very boggy tracks to Carnedd Llechwedd-llyfn, along fence to Carnedd y Filiast, boggy again along fence to Waun Garnedd-y-Filiast, back to track by Carnedd y Filiast, contour round Brottos & Foel-boeth back to road, over cast, occiasional Sun & occiasional showers.apricorum28/05/2015
