Parked at end of minor road at SJ158143, AT RISK of getting stuck. Metalling ends at gate with no turning place. The private land beyond the gate offers only ground of very low traction, so know whether you have FWD or RWD and plan exactly where you are going to drive before passing through the gate (parking here is not recommended). Route from recommended parking necessitates negotiating two barriers at SJ160145, obviously put there to deter people. Bench seat and good FP at top, coming up from the NE, so that is probably a much better route upIsbjorn05/02/2024

From the layby at 169149. Up the forest road to the house, track behind the house to a higher forest road. Followed this beyond the road end to a small tee junction heading northish and this went all the way to the summit.iangalbraith12/08/2023
From lay-by on main road and up past house. Followed forest roads which zig zagged up the hillside. Great summit.KevPalmer14/04/2023
Second ascent Parking at SJ170149. Followed bridleway into open access forestry until reached forest track. There are two routes to the summit... 1. Follow forest track to SJ16621547 then good path to trig summit. 2. Forest tracks up to fence at SJ16201474 then path across private land to trig summit.PeteF18/02/2023
From Mingwern, parked after the gate at the track end. Glorious views with snow on the ground too.Peterb20/01/2023
From lay-by on mirin road near start of BW, up past house across end of forest track, as path led up to higher track, which followed for a short way and then took MTB route up to ridge and onto trig and HP. Came back down ridge path to join forest track further to north of where I left it on way up. Good views at top.PeterD09/08/2022
Left bike by cottage at Ceunant and weaved up through woods. Good 360 degree viewpoint compared to some of the limited views from nearby Marilyns.davechaffey27/05/2022
Lay-by on A495. Forest tracks to summit. Back down along grassy south ridge to rejoin forest track. Solo.Dangerous Dave26/05/2022
Very limited parking to north. Up forestry track since footpath signs directing the way in adjacent field missing. Path junction not on map leads to summit with relief (was beginning to worry I would have to plow through forest to open ground). Found a werthers original in sealed wrapper and saw 2 woodpeckers.Nick Canute07/03/2022
From road end at Mingwern. Parking space through gate for a few cars. Up middle track which turns into a footpath in field. In field cross left up a fence and followed path around outside edge of farmland and up grassy bank to summit. Descended by following path over summit and down until it met main track. Turn right at main track and back to car. 0.7miles to summit, 2.2 miles round trip in under 1hr walking time. Very pleasant walk.JulieB05/01/2022
Parked by Min Gwern, followed left hand track (one right of house) and through field woods and straight up, bracken all under control.Stevooo22/08/2021
Parked at forestry gate 100m (vertical) up minor road to Glascwm from Upper Maen. Hot, sunny day with flowers. Beautiful area and great view. Rounsfell19/04/2021
From A495, mix of tracks and paths, popular little hill for Christmas morning.rhalstead25/12/2019
Start from A495 at SJ169149. Bridleway gets very rough after the house (branch off to right at he garden entrance). Follow paths through forest until you get to forest road, and which leads NE and back around. Avoid ascending direct from S to summit. Looks ok on maps, but is a bramble/bracken mess.huwthomas25/10/2019
From road end at Mingwern. Along forest road then doubled back up on to climb along ridge. Good view of the flooding in the valley below due to heavy rain. My 7th Marilyn of the day.NormanW01/10/2019
Parked near Min Gwern and followed track and path.m0jla23/09/2019
Followed up the bridle track and then took a left up path which leads up. Bonnie view at the top and bench most welcome on a hot day. Took the gentler route down.elizyanne01/08/2019
From road end near Mingwern parking just through gate. Circuit, taking lower forest track under summit the approach via path to NE. Good end with a bench and fine view. Descended by more direct route continuing over summit into woods to pick up the higher track. 4/4N.Morters10/07/2019
With Minnie, from end of track past Brook Ho,easy to follow forestry tracks towards Glascwm then wsw then sw to top/trig good paths, great views a very pleasant aspect & a bench-bonus, cool & cloudy but dry occasional sunapricorum18/03/2019

Revisit with SG from large A495 lay-by to SE.Smudge23/11/2018
Parked at the end of the road at Min-gwern. A Lovely evening walk up through the forest roads / track to the super viewpoint summit. 5km taking just over 1 hour.silveracorn_alan26/09/2018
From end of minor road at Min-gwern via tracks through forest. Straight up to trig point at the end. Returned from summit via path which meets forest trails lower down.Winterfloodian21/05/2018
Parked at tiny dirt lay-by off A495 @ SJ162142. Kept within forest for final part of ascent-mistake! - there is open ground & a path to L of forest on ascent which gives good views of the shapely hill summit. Excellent summit views.ger29/04/2018
A snowy morning so I started from the A495 layby at SJ169149. Track to SW, path, and upper forest road which continues as a wide path along NNE ridge. Splendid hill, though limited views due to low cloud (but above the HP) and the light snow. Many siskins (ca. 300) feeding on larch cones. Back similar way, keeping to forest track rather than using the footpath.pwheeler06/02/2018
From A495 layby at SJ169149, good paths and tracks all the way to summit.Tony J16/12/2017
A nice walk on good paths, and splendid views. Just follow the forestry track, and keep going up. There is a path all the way to the top.Gill04/12/2017
Think I chose wrong start point from lay by on A495 as it was real struggle to get up to top forest road. Once on it though it was easy going to NE side of hill and to continue on path to superb airy summit and views.Mark Sims23/11/2017
With: hb; Parked inside gate at Mingwern. Followed the FP beside lane to Min-Gwern, over stile into woods then after 100m followed nordicstar's new track (not on map) to summit. Returned same way.Ian Baines05/11/2017

Parked at end of Road (through gate near Mingwern). Ascended following track along field boundary / through forestry plantation (taking track up as soon as possible) then over gate into the bracken and followed grassy track round plantation edge to the summit and trig. Unsettled day but the sun made an appearance when we reached the topbriandavies15/09/2017

Parked past gate at Mingwern followed track and then kept left to summit. Lovely day with lots of butterflies and birds.climbingkershaw25/07/2017
Like others, P east side of gate at Mingwern, forestry track to 166155 then left onto track/path to summit. More direct route looks better, about to try descending on it.... just completed a nice circular walk.Topographer5711/04/2017
Parked just past gate at Min-gwern and soon met farmer who asked if we were lost! Had a friendly chat and he advised the easiest route to the trig, or 'the monument' as he called it, was to take the forest road NE. There's then a good track which cuts back to the top from ca. 167155. Nice hill with good views.milimana24/02/2017
Pleasant late afternoon conditions with the light and the shade with the low sun peeping through the clouds.Alex C28/10/2016
With Trefor. From SSW. Path up to forest track. Followed track then torned left uphill at footpath sign and followed path virtually to the summit. Warm and humid but clear views.mike.hoult24/08/2016
My fist hill of the year to shake me out of winter hibernation. I parked at SJ 15834 14334 and followed the forest track north east under the summit before talking the path that cut back west up to the top. A smashing hill indeed with lovely views into the valley.Father Ted03/04/2016
From layby on main road up on ROW passing cottage then on tracks before taking decent path up south ridge (obvious start in trees). Came back by north east line on good path and back on track to ascent route. Cracking view!SS21/11/2015
Lovely hill and beautiful views. Easy ascent from end of public road to Min gwern. Parked after gate and followed footpath. Paths all the way to the top. Just keep going left.jenx20/11/2015
With Jenx, from minor road below Min-Gwern. Dog walkers and locals park inside gate, GR158143 - very easy to reach and higher/better route than from the road. We went up the FP beside lane to Min-Gwern and at woods over fence and left around the gorse (400m) to open hillside and the summit. Came down a good path line into woods to left, a new track not on maps to reach line we took up hill. Delightful spot threatened by wind turbine development - lets hope not!nordicstar20/11/2015
As per gerrybowes route. Easy ascent for excellent views. Returned via same route.bowlesy25/10/2015
Walk from Meifod. Lovely little hill and no problems as used the Forest pathstrimarc230/09/2015
Parked 160149 and walked up bridle way. Took path up right before house that leads to a forest track. Up path at marker post (heading North) to a higher level forest road. Don't take the right of way to Glascwm as we did (the re ascent is a bad path)but follow the forest road around to the NE side of the top from which a path follows the ridge SW to the summit bench and fine views.mindlessflogger21/03/2015
With Cabe. Other directions are very confusing! Park on A495 layby. Take bridle path off road then there is a way marked path off up the hill to the right. Follow up to forest road turning point then almost immediately right again up a steep way marked path to the top forest road. Turn right here and keep going up the forest road after a bit of a hairpin there is smaller track that is way marked that if you stick to will take you to the trig.simon and co19/02/2015
Parked at the layby on the A495 north of Bron y Main.bolton24/06/2014
Layby on A495 NE of Bron-y-main (169149) - Up track opposite layby & then up waymarked path, avoiding fallen trees, to forest road - W. along forest road to 163148 - Take waymarked path up ridge and then to summit. (PM)gerrybowes24/06/2014
