Parked at road junction to north. Up Foel Caerbellan first then back on road over bridge, along bridleway then up track to fence which then followed very steeply uphill to forest. Top short way into forest.PeterD05/09/2023

Tucked in by the phone box, room for one car and then took the ROW at Pont Ystumanner and followed the ridge. Initially through pasture then rougher farmland.Peterb16/04/2023
After Ffridd Cocyn.A very helpful track through the woods leads almost to the summit of Gamallt. I followed it out of the woods and down to the farm Rhiwerfa. Met a very friendly German Shepherd with a rather less friendly farmer.nicolajane29/10/2022

A good track from Llanllwyda gave quick access to the Birds' Rock(s), then a series of ROWs and field crossings to take in Pen Rhiwerfa and Pen Coed-y-gof. Finally, we doubled back to climb Gamallt from the west, via sheep and cow fields then following edge of the forest. Returned NW along the ridge before dropping to a ROW back to the start.summitter31/05/2022

After Foel Caerbellan. Parked at crossroads at 662080. Along road over bridge, then along bridleway along side of river to track up valley onto ridge. Steep climb up ridge to summit. 57 mins to top, Returned by crossing fence at corner of forest and heading around track to the left then down to a gate left of the ruined building. Then across to footpath leading back to Pontystumanner. With KeithByTheCJulieB31/12/2021
Parked at junction to n, opposite phone box. Along flooded bridleway. Awkward for 20 metres. Doubled back along track and up nw ridge by new bw fence. Descended over that fence to gate sw of ruin. Then down RoW. Good route off. KeithByTheC31/12/2021

From the back of the chapel over the footbridge then uncomfortably steep open ground to 200m, where I crossed the BWF into the thin larch forest. Debris mostly cleared, sort of paths through the rye grass. Down through the forest all the way on a steep path.Topographer5714/07/2021
From Abergynolwyn. Chapel by bridge at Cwrt, over footbridge, then using animal tracks where possible on steep open ground until forced to follow fence/ wall by thick bracken. At a R turn in the fence at ca. 200m, I crossed the BWF into partly cleared larch forest and followed a path through rye grass to the summit knoll. I continued along the ridge over a knoll until the end of the access land, then picked out the easiest route across pastures round the ruin of Pen-y-brinau to join the RoW, waymarked with gates, down to Rhiwlas.pwheeler14/07/2021
from campsite at llanllwyda at foot of hill. Paths through fields then rough ground. Distinct highpoint on rock outcrop in thinned forestry. Descend east along wood edge and back along valley trackrichardrosser17/06/2021
Parked on B4405 at 674067 SW of Abergynolwyn. Uncomfortable steep climb from PRow at 673071 with judy55cat. Took one hour to reach summit area at edge of sparse woodland. Operated ham radio for SOTA on summit using short wave and Morse Code.G4OBK (Phil)13/06/2021

TREBORK29/08/2020
Parked in Abergynolwyn. Over little bridge behind chapel. Brutally steep over first section, progressively getting heavy bracken, thrashed up but should have gone into forest earlier to track, beg to differ with Norman here it would save lots of bracken fights in summer/autumn. The first section between wall and wire fence, later forestry basic track. As long as you stay close to fence ie any right branches it brings you very close to summit area. 2/2 Marilyn, damp but very humidN.Morters23/07/2020
Parked in the village. Do not be tempted into the forestry until the last minute - timber extraction tracks are deep, wet and very muddy. Stay outside the fence.NormanW27/02/2020
From Abergynolwyn on footpath, then steeply up along edge of wood.Winterfloodian15/09/2019

3/3 Marilyn day. Ascent of Foel Cae’rberllan & Gamaalt from Castell y Bere car park. Good views. 11km taking 4 hours, a lot of steep ascents and descents! (S)silveracorn_alan12/08/2018
From Abergynolwyn, on street parking. Onto the bridleway, then up the fence. This hill is basically just a cliff with grass and moss on it and trees on top. Easy enough though. Pog up grass and dead bracken (would be awful if it was growing). Reach a wall and follow it. Once the gradient starts to ease off, where the wall turns a corner and the forestry fence begins, cross the fence where the BW has been removed. A few yards into the forestry (follow the wall), there is a very good path which goes to the top more easily than heading up the north side of the fence (I tested both).Gill20/04/2018
Parked and walked from Abergynolwyn, basically following the ridgeline fence all the way. Weather turned foul, so plans for Craig Aderyn and Ffridd Cocyn were dropped! Continued north from summit for a slightly less steep desent.huwthomas02/04/2018

Yes, this one isn't very high but is challenging. Parked by the phone box to the North then down the FP on the west side of the river till the Open Access land is accessed via a pallet gate then UP. I took my walking poles which helped. After gaining most of the necessary height I turned SE onto the ridge and then its just over a few hillocks and over a fence into the woods to reach the high point. Coming down is a bit easier with gravity assistance.Father Ted05/10/2017
difficult to get to, and don't give a lot away with open access to east slopes ! accessed off track west side of peak, there is a newish track going into wood high spot in plantation ,very steep descent into abergonolwynjohnowen17/06/2017
Parked opposite the phone box at SH 66269 07972. Straightforward walk as previously described.martin_hall30/05/2017

With Trefor. From bridge. Followed bridleway then a steep pull onto ridge which was followed steeply up to forestry. Summit easily found in small clearing in forestry.mike.hoult08/08/2016

From Castell y Bere via Foel Cae'rberllan. Followed bridleway from Pont Ystumanner as far as access land then straight up very steep slope to summit.Tony J09/07/2016
2nd of 5. From the often used Bridge starting point. This blighter seemed tougher than Foel Cae'rberllan. Aimed for the dead house then followed the steep grassy slopes up to the first knoll. From here hopped over fence and up to highest point of the open access area. The actual top then requires a hop over b/wire into trees.. a bulldozed track gets you pretty much all the way. Shame theres very little view. Heather burning on cad Idris. Followed bulldozed tracks a way down through the trees just to explore and vary the route but you're as well to retrace your steps. Off to Ffridd Cocyn next.stig_nest28/02/2016
