From Devil's Elbow with Lesley, lovely day cold but clear.Nick Canute08/02/2023
From the track end at SN896223. Up track to Bwlch y Duwynt, then down to boggy col to take in Fan Ned; retraced steps and followed Cambrian Way back to track, before bagging Fan Fraith and Gan Gyhirych. Descended ENE ridge above the steep slopes back to Bwlch y Duwynt. Took in the Simm of Yr Allt, then quickly back down the track where a freezing blast of shower got me rather wet.Rockdoctor29/12/2022
Direct from Maen Llia standing stone, then down by the path. Too wet and windy for anything more.prwild29/10/2022

A beautiful winter walking day, sunny most of day and frozen ground made for easy going. From Devil's elbow up the good path and cut across on path following fence to bwlch and round to Yr Allt. then back round to Fan Nedd via the cairn. Dropped down more or less due east to road at point where track joins and then easily straight up to cairn and along ridge to very small summit cairn. Dropped down north and west to car park with no path but no problems either.dickscroop29/11/2021

From the stile to the NE above the hairpin bends.NormanW29/09/2020
Took the stony track across Y Gelli from the north. Gets pretty close to the summit of Fan Gyhirych, a good peat path softening the final 500m or so. Then popped over to Fan Fraith, extended dry conditions making the otherwise boggy crossing a doddle. Then the rather more testing ascent of Fan Nedd, doubling back to bag the easier tops of Yr Allt and Fan Bwlch Chwyth, a helpful peaty path making the going good to firm.summitter21/09/2020

Parked by Maen Llia on top of pass on the small back road between Ystradfellte and Heol Senni - the route of Sarn Helen Roman Road. Went up Fan Llia first, then returned to Maen Llia and followed north ridge path up Fan Nedd, passing way-marking/viewpoint cairn on the way up to the summit trigpoint. Dry and hot day but with dramatic bubbling clouds, mostly white clouds but with some grey. Dramatic views of Pen y Fan to East, Fan Gyhirych and Fan Fraith to immediate west, and Fan Hir and Brycheiniog etc in further west. Could also sea the Mumbles point (Swansea) in the south.Dewi Prysor10/08/2018
