We drove up Coquet Valley past Alwinton intending to climb up Windy Gyle with Ruth, however a Highways maintenance crew decided that they would block the single track road preventing me from getting to my original destination. I checked the map and we decided to climb up Shillhope Law from Shillmoor instead. All the way up we heard the sound of military guns firing from near Otterburn Barracks. It was steep all the way up and although it only took us 1hr to walk the 1.8 miles we both felt it in our legs. The views from top were decent. It rained slightly on the way back down but we were still in good spirits when we got back to the car. Miles walked: 3.8 miles 1hr and 45 mins.JamesJones09/03/2021

We took the track from Shillmoor over Copper Snout to Saughgy Hill, then a 4x4 track on to Nettlehope Hill, before joining a forestry track heading north through recently felled and newly planted plantation - popping out just shy of Yarnspath Law (heavy heather until reaching a fence line with side path). Westwards and over the Usway burn by a footbridge just north of height 345. Return route was along good tracks, taking in The Middle, Kyloe Shin (great name), Shillhope Law, and Inner Hill. Gentle decline back to the start. Lovely walk, 4 hrs.summitter24/05/2019

13.4 mile walk from Wedder Leap car park, Coquetdale, followed road briefly then up onto Hindside Knowe (25m prominence) and along ridge to Swineside Law, passed goats up onto the Pennine Way, out to Mozie Law and Beefstand Hill and back, then onto Windy Rig and Windy Gyle, headed south missing Ward Law down and up onto The Middle and Middle Hill (nearly completely cleared of trees), then along to Kyloe Shin with a final pull up to Shillhope Law then steep descent back to car park. Clear and sunny all day but cold and very windy. Saw a few people all day mainly on Windy Gyle.DanTrig05/11/2017

Overnighted up the valley a foul night. Drove back to Wedder Leap and in improving weather yomped up in a half hour. Almost exactly two years ago Id ran out of legs coming off a route on Windy Gyle and Cushat Law so was nice to finally summit this one. Wedder Leap, Shilhope Law, Saughy Hill (NB FB on old 1:25,000 map at Batailshiel Haugh does not exist, but fortuitously there was a flood-wrecked bridge wedged across the river slightly north of here at the western edge of the enclosed land just south of The Castles - 877104) Nettlehope Hill, Yarnspath Law, The Middle, Middle Hill, Kyloe Shin, Barrowburn Tea Room closed at 4pm before I got there, Wedder Leapijpowell15/04/2016

Part of a splendid walk from Shillmoor. Over Shillhope Law and Kyloe Shin, down to Fairhaugh and back along the Usway Burn. Highly recommended - great views and easy going, a total contrast to the usual bog fests in the Cheviots! There is no bridge at Fairhaugh, so this could be awkward if the river is in spate. In dry conditions, it's dead easy to cross.Gill04/02/2016

Part of a round of Shillhope Law and Yarnspath Law. Parked in Barrowburn and from there followed tracks to the top of Shillhope Law. Steep descent to the Usway Burn NE of Batalshiel. Over the Castles and track to Clennel Street. Forest tracks to close to Yarnspath Law. Some off track walking over a mix of heather and hummock grass. Hard. Dropped down by edge of forest and crossed Usway Burn again and up to track going to Uswayford. Turned left and followed track and path back to Barrowburn.MikeM05/07/2015

Good to be out after a period of inactivity, even though we did this one in fog. Mrs Mindlessflogger had been poorly but struggled to the top. Set off from Shillmoor and came straight down.
