Superb moonlit walk through fresh powder snow at 4.30am. Really clear in all directions; westwards towards the coast and a very white Skiddaw looming up to the southeast. Definitely quite an experience to last long in the memory.Alex C02/03/2024
Not quite as early as Alex C but a wonderful walk up in fresh snow on a bright sunny morning. Good views in all directions, although a little summit cloud on the highest tops. Several young families out with their sledges. Like others parked in the layby near Binsey Cottage to the ESE. Solo.richard6902/03/2024

My 29th birthday! Fantastic way to spend it, being nearly blown away at the summit of Binsey! Wee mice darting around in the heather underfoot on the steep ascent. Very strong winds at the trig point almost knocking us off our feet, but an exhilarating walk after a night spent being spoilt at the Pheasant Inn, Bassenthwaite.AmyYoung06/11/2014

Up from High Ireby- a poor place to start; easy to negotiate barbed wire then a plod up heather. Fantastic views at a good summit, huge tumulus-cairn. We went down to Binsey Lodge to keep the views. Even there, there was a worn no access sign next to one of those 'Liberty and Livelihood' signs the Countryside Alliance put up. I don't think the freedom of access that exists from there now is what they meant by Freedom. Quiet lanes back. This log is all a bit historic now, isn't it? With Pete on way back from S.
