From the summit of Hopegill head we made our way across the awesome ridge to Whiteside. Absolutely loved this route I was right in my element. Love how flat the views to the right are to the Solway firth and Scotland but to the left dominated by huge jagged mountains. Nothing much else to say coz the hard work for this was done on Grisedale pike but really loved Whiteside. From there we went back to Hopegill head turning right over Sand hill to Coledale House where we head down to coledale beck via the old mine and followed the very very easy path back to the car. This was a great but tough day, my back and neck were killing my toes bleeding and heal red raw! And totally worth it. Headed home via teebay for a black pudding scotch egg and home to eat an Indian and watch Hateful eight. WHAT A DAYScotty 2 Hotty24/11/2018

From Buttermere YHA to Wandope via Whiteless Pike and Edge. On up to Grasmoor dropping down to Codale Hause and up to Hopegill Head and along to Whiteside. The decent from Whiteside was heavily eroded and very loose. Would definitely do the route in reverse if I were to do it again. Met Adam Nolan [Cyclewise] who gave me a lift back to the YHA, saving me 30 mins of road walking at the end. Started 1530 and got down to the road at 2200 to avoid the extreme heat 27-29 degrees. Stunning evening with a lovely cool breeze.Butty19/06/2017

A fast walk blast up in 42 mins from toe to top of Whiteside from Langthwaite with Lesley. Nice and steep on a good path just what I needed to sweat out a lurgi - dripping with sweat by top then walk / jog along the ridge bumps over all the edge tops to Hopegill Head. Calm and warm.Chris Pearson25/08/2016
First of six reached today use the route A Whiteside - Grasmoor round from Stuart Marshall.s book Walking the Wainwright's. This site suggests the west top is your goal while in the book the main summit is suggested no matter as the route visit's both. Start from the free car park on the B5289 between High Lorton and Buttermere.WAYNE ROWLETT31/07/2016
