After a lovely morning, a cold fog dropped, making this walk a little more difficult. I set off from the Hobcarton car park on the Whinlatter Pass and headed for Ladyside, then up to Hopegill Head, Hobcarton Crag and Grisedale Pike. Came back via Hobcarton End.oldbagger2710/01/2018

Nicely inward shelving rock slabs to easily walk down from Hopegill Head to jog out and back to Ladyside Pike with Lesley. Looking back the rock slabs look like a formidable cliff that needs ascending to reach Hopegill Head rather than the friendly angled slabsChris Pearson25/08/2016

Having climbed Griesdale Pike and Hopegill previously and as I was walking on my own this time, I took the cowards way out and climbed this one from the north. I parked in the forest car parks, headed westwards and then on the FP up through fields and track to summitt.Father Ted23/04/2014
Tricky descent from Hopegill Head down a rocky slab. Last did this with Emma in the snow and ice - not advisable! Group of 5 ascending from Hopegill valley - looked like hard work to me!Si's 2nd round14/04/2014
Glorious day with an early start. Up Swinside then on to Ladyside and a bit of fun on Hopgill Head (looks much worse than it is). Along Whiteside then down to Dodd and back by the road.SS06/07/2013
I really did not like descent from hopegill head to ladyside pike. Ground sloping away from you as you are going down! Coming back it was easy scramble/ climb.Malcvolm26/05/2013
Found it difficult to park in High Lorton. Eventually parked to the north, in lay-by at 15636 26482. Walked through village and took steep lane up past Scales, then right onto another lane, diverting onto track up the NW (Swinside) ridge to the summit.marktrengove19/05/2013

The path from here to Hopegill Head, whilst steep, is not too bad, however, avoid on a wet day if possible as the exposed rocks can be slippery.moorsman03/05/2012
