With Jus, Cat & Jim. Loop from Langdale, up the band, across Crinkle Crags, down to Cold Pike and back down via Red Tarn and Oxendale. Tough going given that we were all either injured, ill or exhausted! However, a glorious day enjoyed by all, with amazing weather for October. Esk Pike, Bowfell and Crinkle Crags from Cockley Beck Bridge. First ascent of Esk Pike from the upper Duddon Valley for me and the desolate but romantic head of Eskdale - splendid scenery. Wow, what weather; One of the clearest days in the Lakes ever. Hard snow on the tops, which was in the main lovely to walk on. Made our way up via brownsey Gill to Pike o Blisco where we managed to meet with dad who was making his way to Coniston. From there we headed to Cold Pike, across the Middle towards crinkle crabs via the bad step. Lunch at the top, then Baz and I nipped over to Bowfell and grabbed that, whilst the other returned to old dungeon gill via the band. Baz and I followed after them as too much ice at the top to risk the climbers traverse. Great day walking with Baz, Lyndon, Andy, Stu, Dan unfortunately Matt had to duck out last minute due to a dodgy tummy!Jim Baz18/11/2019

After a bit it started playing Spotify saved song, one of Alan's favourite Swedish ones. It cheered us up and we also found the way down. Later we realised the problem was moisture on the touchscreenAlanDStewart20/05/2017

I dropped down to Red Tarn, joined the path running up from Wrynose Pass and left it opposite Great Knott to head for Cold Pike. This seemed a better route than the steep direct climb from Red Tarn, although the walkers I had seen on Pike of Blisco seemed to have taken this route. There are three tors on Cold Pike (Wainwright says it is Crinkle Crags in miniature) and the one nearest Pike of Blisco is the highest, although the grid reference in Alan Dawson’s book seems to be a lower one to the south.peter4lc23/05/2015
