Had intended to come along ridge from Grisedale Pike but couldn't get up there due to high winds. Instead dropped down into valley to W and climbed up from there. Ridiculous winds on the top - had to crawl on hands and knees to get to the summit.Wheelsy10/03/2019

Not been here since 2007 and the Christmas tree decorations are still up! Solo. On way back to Whinlatter from Grisedale Pike.Dangerous Dave24/02/2018
After a lovely morning, a cold fog dropped, making this walk a little more difficult. I set off from the Hobcarton car park on the Whinlatter Pass and headed for Ladyside, then up to Hopegill Head, Hobcarton Crag and Grisedale Pike. Came back via Hobcarton End.oldbagger2710/01/2018
Parked in FC car park at Revelin Moss (£8 all day). Up the ridge using Wainwright's Grisedale Pike ascent page 9, still accurate and useful after over 50 years. Lovely ridge walk on good path through heather once out of forest. Bagged all cairns and also heather knoll of Black Crag which has great views west down the valley over Swinside Houses. Didn't meet anyone until top of Grisedale Pike. Then on to do more Wainwrights and Birketts.Hillsidenick02/09/2017
From Swinside. Back up Grisedale Pike and down Sleet How to Braithwaite for 14:45. A superb walk.Wycombe Wanderer25/06/2017

From Whinlatter Pass road - blocked for road works but found a spare lay-by. With Penda. 1100-1515, initially via Nutalls' directions which soon went to worms due to new cycle tracks and forestry work. Up shoulder of Grizedale Pike but turned off just before top onto Hobcarton End ridge. Down through forestry chaos to find van was now on wrong side of road-block... quite a flog of a walk. But LAST English Nutall excepting Pillar Rock! Sunny, dry and cool all day.beorwulf20/09/2016

Walked from Revelin Moss car parkon my own. Perfect walking weather. Clear, not too hot with a cool breeze. I really enjoyed this route up Grisedale Pike. As much of the ascent was in the forest it was pleasantly cool and I was distracted by lots of beautiful birdsong.flockwatcher17/04/2015
Final Lake District Nuttall. Done on final day of CUHWC Seathwaite Vacation Trip. Out and back alone from Grisedale Pike, where I left group, and joined back up with them on Hopegill Head. This is rather a boring peak.AGWilliamson08/01/2015

Parked to NE in free forest car park at N54 36.572 W3 13.014. Then found the footpath mentioned in the Nuttall book up through the trees and the track to the summitt. I had missed this peak when climbing Grisedale Pike so this was the simplest way to bag it.Father Ted23/04/2014
Got lift to Whinlatter with the Stagecoach supervisor when the 77 bus set off without me! Bimbled about in the forest as usual but once I found the right path it was a straightforward ascent.Si's 2nd round14/04/2014

Parked the car in Forest Car Park, on B5292 and walked up through forest, no obvious route through trees. At GR 18895 24060, the trees were a bit thinner and managed to get onto open hillside. Steep snow and heather ascent and then on to Grisedale Pike.tsharp20/03/2013

From Whinlatter pass in a clockwise circuit. The ascent was easy enough once through the forest and thereafter paths were excellent. Round in under 6 hours beating Naismith by nearly 30 mins. A really good day - shame about the road walk back.SS20/05/2012
