From Caw Fell. Direct ascent from the Intake Works at the head of Worm Gill. Easy grassy slopes. Descended northwest, crossed the Calder and walked back out to the van on Cold Fell Road by Burn Edge. Had a quick pint in The Fox and Hounds. Solo.Dangerous Dave19/08/2019

Parked at the lower car park for a 28 mile circular walk. First I climbed Grike (488m), across to Lank Rigg (541m), Whoap (511m), and Crag Fell (522m) before descending back to the lake via the Crag Fell Pinnacles and Angler's Crag. From there completed the full loop of Ennerdale as far as Black Sail Hut and finished with a climb up Bowness Knott (333m).meltdiceburg23/06/2019
After meeting the man we made our way easily around Whoap and headed down to start the incline of Lank Rigg. I had convinced myself this was so hard and steep that in the end it wasn’t half as bad and quickly made it to the top. Awesome summit and trig and views of the whole walk. We even found some Money underneath the rock as per the section in the Wainwright book. After a short break we headed down through the valley only stopping to get a stone out of my shoe. Made good time and such a barran but very very stunning place. We were soon heading back round Blakeley raise before getting back onto the road and heading back to the van. Really loved this walk much more than I ever thought I would. From there we stopped for a drink in the Stanley Arms in Calderdale bridge before heading the looong journey home for a quick rest. A day sesh in Liverpool.Scotty 2 Hotty19/06/2019

Descended by the track from the Whoap/Lank Rigg col, but due to snow melt had to go north upstream to cross the first main burn nearer the forest edge. Rejoined the ascent track to Grike by going up through new planting.LizH04/02/2019

I thought that it was a pointless duplication of route (see Grike), but the forestry track peters out and becomes far more difficult and slow going, stick to the old mine road. Climbed up from the mine road entrance, past some filthy just released cattle. Great weather and pretty dry underfoot given a fording of the Calder was required at the end!Karmakarl26/03/2017

Two summits; the higher (eastern) is marked by the trig point. The western summit, which affords probably the closest views of the Sellafield nuclear facility of any 'Wainwright', is marked by a cairn. A small tarn, frozen in the snow when I was there, separates the two. Wainwright considered Lank Rigg to be an outsider; I disagree and consider it's summit stands proud and haughtily aloof at the western edge of the Lake District. Easy grassy slopes make it accessible in an all weather conditions. although it does have a relatively long walk in.knavesandblades18/03/2013

There are, in fact, very few parking places available on the minor road to the west. Those that do exist leave the car isolated and therefore very vulnerable to being broken into. Although I had no problems, I would think that weekends could be a different kettle of fish.moorsman16/10/2012
