From Scalehill Bridge (as Maggie's Bridge car park currently closed). Mellbreak (both tops), Scale Knott, Hen Comb, Gavel Fell, Blake Fell, Carling Knott and Burnbank Fell. Mostly dry and breezy with good views.alistairpooler15/07/2018
Evening run on route home. From Loweswater just beyond pub over the river small parking for 5 cars. Track then north ridge path, steep. Keep an eye for Peregrine falcons. Over to south Top and down the west side to regain track back to car. Glorious sunny evening with views to IoMN.Morters26/06/2018
A great walk, interesting all the way, from a sneaky parking spot just before Park Bridge. Lovely bridleway through the woods to pick up the great path heading up the N side of Mellbreak, sneaking up over the screes and little rock steps to the N top. Down and up to the summit, from where the N top looks much better and higher. Down from the saddle is easy, on a good grassy path at first, becoming shabby lower down. Easily back to the start on the BW. Stunning.Gill21/06/2018

Mellbreak and Hen Comb with Don Munro next door. Up the north face of Mellbreak, what a cracking little ascent that is, over the tops and down the other side to the path that cuts across to the back of Hen Comb, small slog up and over this. Lucky with weather, bit hazy, superb views of Buttermere, Grasmoor, over to the giants at the back and side of Buttermere, couldnt see out to sea though. Overall a lovely jaunt, 2 more Ws and 5 Bs.Mark T31/05/2018

Mellbreak the Return. After a memorable day in the Loweswater hills three years ago I returned with Mark hoping for a better day. Walking from Maggies Wood car park, the steep climb up to Mellbreak was in sunshine retracing our steps and dropping down to cross Mosedale Beck to tackle Hen Comb head on. As we approached the summit the rain started and as we climbed Gavel Fell it was getting quite breezy. Glad to stop for lunch in the shelter on Blake Fell before we carried on to the still uninspiring 'top' of Burnbanks Fell. Weather improved on the descent to Holme Wood and the car and a welcome pint in front of the log fire at the Kirkstile InnPhilip A03/05/2018

From Loweswater. With LP and SH.wombourne20/02/2018
Start ~ 149214, NT Car park. Walked through Loweswater village before heading straight up the North ridge of Melbreak on a steep but good path. Continued to the south top before returning to Mosedale. River was to high to continue to Hen Comb. With Wombourne & Lynette.steve hudson20/02/2018
Mellbreak and Hen Coombe from Maggie's Bridge car-park. Horrible scree track up White Crag onto Mellbreak south summit. Back tracked to the saddle dropping down into Mosedale. Saw the Mosedale Holly Tree. Followed the track south to just beyond Thrang Crags where I turned to climb Hen Comb. The weather deteriorated at this point have walked for the past 1.5 hours in hail and snow I decided to bail [missing out Gavel, Blake & Burnbank Fells] returning to the north. Returned to the car via the track through High Nook Farm.Butty14/01/2018

Anti-clockwise circuit from Maggie's Bridge with Jim, Jus & Cat. Approached from the path up the southern end - bit of a slog along the valley to get there from Floutern Comb. Summit a little nicer than the grassy bumps earlier in the day, although the northern Melbreak top is better.wheresthepath23/09/2017

Parked at Maggies Bridge car park and then walked around on the road and track to the north end of the hill. Hadn't done my homework so didn't know if there was a route up from the north so came around to the east and found a decent path up. Went to the south top then along the ridge to the north top then back down the way I had gone up.Father Ted25/07/2017
Alone part of Mellbreak, Hencomb, Gavel Fell, Blake Fell and Burnbank Fell.rattymeister11/07/2017
Up from Buttermere NT car park via Scales Bridge, Scale Force and Scale Knott. No cairn at top, just a single large stone on grass mound near rock outcrop, which someone probably correctly has assumed is marginally higher. Quick chat to two folks at top then onto North top on good ridge path.Hillsidenick09/07/2017
Straight up from Kirkstile inn. Nice scree slope.electricratman07/07/2017
