1 of 10 on 14 mile hike starting at lay-by near the river in cleator moor. As the lane turned into byway straight up and to the top. Love it round here. It feels very remote comparative to the central fells. WO no. 2The-Z-Man25/02/2022
With Carol. From lay-by by Wath Bridge, Cleator Moor. Ascent via Nannycatch Road. Reached first cairn, then headed east to second cairn. Route off top is steep, amongst the bracken with no obvious track, so headed south-west descending to the track at a gentler gradient (but still in bracken). Moved on to Dent. Overall - 3 hrs 50 mins and approx. 6.5 miles.DABT16/08/2021

WOs 49,50 and 51. Bs 49,50 and 51. From base at Gosforth drove first to Cold Fell and up and down by Ws route. Then did Swarth Fell and Burn Edge from a bit further along the road. Parked next at sharp right bend where track goes off to the east just below Blakeley Raise and quickly up and down. Finally down track and steep hillside through pathless shoulder high bracken to Nannycatch Gate and up incredibly steep grass slope onto Dent, easy forest track down to below Flat Fell and over it back to the road and the car - exhausting but dry and good views.BURGESS29/07/2017

From 271 on road to east, along footpath to sheepfold then south to summit. Headed off south west to corner of plantation. Approx 5 degrees C but frost in sheltered spots. Overcast and still. On to Dent. Toiled up the spongy slopes to the forest, past a tree decorated for Christmas and on to the Marilyn summit. Had meant to climb the Wainwright but realised I'd climbed it before from the other side. Good view of major fells looking more like the highlands in Spring than the Lakes in Autumn. Navigational error on return brought me out at top of Lowther Park but enjoyed the forest walk.Wycombe Wanderer05/12/2016
