1st of 7 hills on a circular from the Iton Pike car park. Walked along road and then took track up eventually finding intimate path that climbs up steeply to the top. A bit windy to stay so carried on path heading for Irton Fell...Dazingdale16/03/2024

We followed the logging road to the end then scrambled up to the viewpoint above the trees. Followed a yellow taped route from there to the summit. Not recommended but fun and big thanks to whoever put out the tape. Came back on the motorway path to the east then SW to the carpark. Much easier. With Jerry. 2.75km.RowanP14/04/2023
After a 6 mile amble over eskdale moor it was a car section to the parking space for Irton Pike and then the forest track from almost next to the parking up to a narrow stony path on the left to pick up the main path all the way to the summit. Nice viewpoint. With Boris. A small milestone reached with this one being my 200th summit (including humps).ytfckent14/02/2023
2 of 6 starting in cinderdale car park. From latterbarrow. If there was a route from these 2 hills I didn’t find it. Absolute torture through thick gorse and prickly pines almost the whole way there until I got to the wall line then came across a path not on the os maps. WO no. 9The-Z-Man18/08/2022
Walked with Scourfields, including Rosie.AJScourfield06/08/2022
Anti-clockwise circular route on paths from small parking area.Winterfloodian18/07/2022
Initially up Irton Pike, having parked in the old quarry below. Then along the ridge to Irton Fell, then taking a cross country route to Great Bank. Descent from here along the forest road (much damage from Storm Arwen), and back along the tarmac road, taking a short detour over the gate to the top of Plumgarth Hill on the way to the quarry car park. 10km with 460m ascent in 3 hours. Parked at forestry track entrance at NY119012 (space on both sides of road). Up forest road for about 80 yards then right into short hard-standing area. At the back of this area a small cairn marks the start of a narrow path heading left steeply up into trees which leads directly to the summit.vuirich01/02/2022

Straight up from the road and continued over the top of the fell before defending the track on the Eastern flank and back to the road. Great little view point to Wasdale and Eskdale fells. Just me and H. Cloudy with a bit of rain.johnkaysleftleg27/05/2019
2-car linear walk with Jill. From small car park at foot of Irton Pike, Irton Pike, Irton Fell, Whin Rigg, Illgill Head, Burnmoor Tarn, Boat How, Stone Circles (found four in total) Dalegarth Station (at Boot).ijpowell24/05/2019
From the carpark to the SSW. Went a short distance along the forest road before a path on the right and then straight up the path. A good job it is there as it would be a thrash through brambles and bracken without it. A pleasant top as it is clear of the trees. Then NE to escape the trees.Alan Moore15/01/2019
Really good views from Whin Rigg and Illgil Head, looking down into Wasdale. Started with the tump, Irton Pike after ascending through Christmas trees. Ended the walk descending past Burnmoor tarn and finishing at the back door of the Woolpack Inn for new years eve.Joel45131/12/2018
Designated Access land in woodland area. Popular with locals. Good parking at NY 12186 01242. Good track runs up from parking spot - take L branch at obvious fork to ridge crest, then back West along permissive path through forest. Superb 360 degree panorama. Permissive path continues East to exit forest onto wide ridge all the way to Whin Rigg and beyond.Isbjorn12/09/2018

WOs 45; Bs 40 and 41. Torrential rain all morning at Ravenglass but dry p.m. though high fells under cloud. Went up Irton Crag by the Wasdale bridleway and then along the ridge to Irton Fell - hard work as ground very soggy and paths like rivers after rain. Descended to little col for Great Bank. Very difficult and unpleasant ascent and descent through deep heather and bracken with lots of bog and felled tree debris but mercifully short. Returned via forest track to rejoin bridleway.BURGESS26/07/2017
First time up for wife and 2 year old. The latter ran up the rocky promontory to beat the 4 year old to the top. Very clear. 16 degrees, views to Ireland. Wife proudly pointing out where we'd walked on Thursday from Kinmont BuckBarrow to White Pike and the Knott.nukeboy116/07/2017
