Leaving Mardale we headed down onto the ridge between the 2 mountains (nan Bield pass) we knew we were going to be exposed and the weather stronger so rested and ate on the steps on the way down before moving on. From here you can see both valleys! the view over the tarn of small water towards haweswater is for me one of the very best in Lakeland but on the other side an almost as impressive look at the kentmere reservoir and the peaks already completed today. from here we scrambled up the steep ridge and got to Harter fell. flat summit but amazing 360 degree views. from here it felt as if we were on the home straight!Scotty 2 Hotty29/10/2017

Classic Kentmere round from Kentmere Church via Garburn Pass, Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick, Thornthwaite Crag, High Street, Mardale Ill Bell, Harter Fell, Kentmere Pike and Shipman Knotts. Time 6 1/2 hours. Walked with dog. Weather fine and sunny for first half of walk. Mist came down whilst on Harter Fell around 1.45pm. Remained dry though. A wonderful walk ... mostly grassy ridges though boggy in places and rocky on Ill Bell and Froswick.jamessteel10025/10/2016

Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick, High Street, Rough Crag, Harter Fell, Kentmere Pike. Parked the car at the village hall in Kentmere village (3 voluntary donation). Up Garnburn Pass and then on to Yoke, Ill Bell and Froswick. Only saw one person till I got on to main path up to High Street. Riggindale Crag was slow going but not a scramble. After dropping down to Blea Water, the climb up to Harter Fell via Small Water was hard work but since there was someone in front of me carrying their bike up (who I never caught up with) I couldn't complain. Excellent shelter at Nan Bield Pass. At the top of Harter Fell I met Cary and we walked down to Kentmere and gave him a lift to the YHA at Troutbeck where he'd started the day (he wouldn't have been home before 8 otherwise).tsharp03/05/2016
