Late afternoon ascent from Mardale Head to Harter Fell (778m), Mardale Ill Bell (760m), Thornthwaite Crag (784m), and High Street (828m) before descending via Caspel Gate and Blea Water back down to Mardale Head. ~15Km distance with ~870m ascent.VirtualMountain15/11/2017
Leaving Mardale we headed down onto the ridge between the 2 mountains (nan Bield pass) we knew we were going to be exposed and the weather stronger so rested and ate on the steps on the way down before moving on. From here you can see both valleys! the view over the tarn of small water towards haweswater is for me one of the very best in Lakeland but on the other side an almost as impressive look at the kentmere reservoir and the peaks already completed today. from here we scrambled up the steep ridge and got to Harter fell. flat summit but amazing 360 degree views. from here it felt as if we were on the home straight!Scotty 2 Hotty29/10/2017
