Clockwise circular walk (with Helene) from Sadgill up Gatesgarth Pass as far as the junction for the Nan Bield Pass. Up onto Branstree and onto Seaside Pike via the Pillar and pools. Then took a cross country route contouring around to Mosedale Cottage where we cooled off from the heatwave conditions (most welcome!). Up onto Tarn Crag and then across a very dry bog to Grey Crag. Returning via Great Howe and Stockdale.Butty14/08/2022
A poor day for weather, cloudy throughout and drizzly rain picking up as day went on but a good walk nonetheless. From Sadgill east on signed but faint path to stile onto access land. Though nit marked on map path continues all the way up to Grey Crag and on to Tarn Crag though a bit vague in places. continued north along wall over coll and part way up towards Selside Brow then west on easy grassy ground to head of Gatesgarth pass. easy even in the cloud. Rest of route all on path. Up to Harte Fell and south to Kentmere Pike the ENE along wall to mine workings where pickd up disused mine track doen to main valley track. Easy all the way.dickscroop23/07/2022

Re-visit with Lindsey as part of my second round of Wainwrights. Started from Sadgill 10.30-ish up steep path to Great Howe (Birkett) then on easier slope to Grey Crag summit. Excellent views so had lunch there. Then northwest to Tarn Crag across bog; up easy slope up to Tarn Crag summit. Decided to give Branstree a miss and descended on grass to Brownhowe Bottom where we joined Gatescarth Pass for two mile walk down to Sadgill. Warm sunny cloudless day.Skip20/03/2022

The start of our 6 day bank holiday weekend. Dropped Myla off and headed off on the adventure. First issue was the road into the valley through Burnside was closed so had to head up to Shap and turn off down into the valley of Longsleddale. Once at Sadgill bridge we parked up I realised I forgot my fleece and had no coat…amateur. We headed through the gate straight up easy gully stopping for breakfast on a cliff edge using our new Jetboil again. From the followed the route up to the summit. Seemed to go on and on forever but great views of the valley, survey posts and kentmere pike and the Yorkshire dales of course. Great start to the week.Scotty 2 Hotty02/05/2018

11.1 Mile walk from top of A6, walked down to Crookdale Bridge and straight up to High House Bank summit (Small cairn), along ridge onto Robin Hood (small cairn)and onto Lords Seats very featureless summit, followed ridge across a few bogs to Grey Crag then across big bog to Tarn Crag, back across to Harrop Pike cairn and along easy ridge to Great Yarlside's featureless summit down over pathetic knoll of Little Yarlside and onto boggy Whatshaw Common (no cairn), back down to pass. On a wet, miserable, cloudy day. Did this as part of the Selside Pike, Branstree, Tarn Crag & Grey Crag from Swindale Head (well almost, as you can't park at the farm any more so there is an extra bit along the road). 22 km in total. On a walk to climb my penultimate four Wainwrights above 2000 ft. Ticking lists has the advantage of making you go to places you might not otherwise visit. Today, it was Longsleddale (only my second visit).. big advantage! A lovely, quiet valley. Followed AW's route on pg 4, starting from Sadgill as advised. See Branstree log for summary of entire route.pwheeler02/09/1989
