Used the parking area a short distance down the track to the right of the entrance to Witherslack school to the SW. Took the obvious path up through the Scar to the summit. Wonderful sunny early Spring morning and good views all round. Solorichard6906/03/2024

Limited roadside parking near Mill Side, up steeply through Backhouse Wood then lovely walking along the crest to the top. Returned via Anastice and pt.187. Tremendous views of the higher fells. Visited Sizergh Fell on the way back home.Jake99422/10/2023
Up from school, pasted playing field then up steep wooded slopes to gap in boundary wall. Turn left along pleasant graded path which takes a slightly circous roure to memorial cairn. Much easier than the bush wack back to boundary wall on return.cjo03/09/2023

From Witherslack village hall leaving L for her recorder group afternoon (all 30 of them!). Gave me 3 hours for a round of Whitbarrow's 5 tops (P30 & P20's) Intense rainfall for the first hour was so heavy it was enjoyable (from inside my full waterproofs)! Awkward steep ascent avoiding private signs to find marked path onto Farrer's Allotment, then over White Scar (good viewpoint -big cliff below) and winding jog linking grassy bits down to Anastice (used deer track to angle up scree). The rain now stopped but everything running with water and slippery - especially the limestone pavements I crossed, ever so carefully, next up in scaling the wooded lost world of Wakebarrow (p20)- where I came across a flash flood surface stream disappearing down a gurgling swallow hole - before finding a scrambling weakness through the summit crags. Fascinating terrain. V pleased to regain a path on this summit for a jog down. 30 years since I was last up here when marilyns had just been invented.Chris Pearson15/10/2022

There is a dedicated public parking area if you turn right as you reach the school gates (from the south). This can accommodate about 15 cars, including the ones on the access track. From here a clear track leads across the fields to the end of the football pitch. Over a stile, behind the goals and then uphill to the summit.moorsman18/05/2022

good parking and pleasant walk along escarpmentGlenford10/10/2021
Started from Whitslack Hall School(Oversand School) there is a small carpark to the right of their entrance. A path took us along the cliffs to the left and up a steep but easy path, which continued to the top. We decided to make a loop out of it and continued North West down the hill and walked along the cliffs again back to the car. We found many bushes of sloes, a damson tree and a gentleman with a conservatory full of grapes gave away a few bunches very happily. Good haul on this walk. Came from the lower Anastice summit weather turned on us Freezing rain and gale force winds . Very open to the elements would be a really nice walk on a better day , nice view of Witherslack.Philposs14/03/2021
Lovely 12km circular loop from the parking just off the A road with GFE. Views on top so far reaching and surrounding mountains cloaked in snow. ‘Feels like’ temperature at the van was -8 so I’d describe it as ‘pretty flipping cold’ on the topFionalevey13/02/2021

From Witherslack Hall, making a circuit of the escarpment top incorporating Lord’s Seat. I had intended to go to Anastice, but Whitbarrow is so enchanting I shall save it as an excuse to ascend by a different route.Nick Down123/10/2020

A day of short walks and drives between Outliers in the company of Parlick and his mrs, Stravaiger. A beautiful day out.Shutterlag03/12/2018
From by the school. The start of the path is obvious but then I went wrong. You need to either go diagonally across the football pitch or round two sides to get the diagonally opposite corner. This is important as there is only the one path up the cliffs and I ended up having to beat through woodland to find it because of my error. A lovely hill much better than an average T2.clivevilla05/11/2018
Parked at Mill Side, up the front, along the top, Lord's Seat, and dropped down on the Lyth Valley side and the low level route back.Chipstertrain01/11/2018
