Crookburn Bridge - fence to Scraith Head - Burnhope Seat (trig point and summit) - fence to within 150 yards of Harwood Common summit - across country to Crookburn Bridge.Mark Jackson31/12/2022
From Burnhope reservoir, Nuttall walk 10.1: Three Pikes (hideous boggy mess),Great Stony Hill, Harwood Common, Burnhope Seat Trig and true summit, and Dead Stones. Good walking weather, cool with good visibility. This is a really tough walk due to the terrain (peat hags, heather & bog) and long sections with no paths.Lazylizzie25/08/2022

From Burnhope reservoir,Three Pikes,Great Stony Hill, Harwood Common, Burnhope Seat and Dead Stones. 5.5 hours, overcast but no mist.Longwojo13/06/2022
The wind had got up on day 4 of my 6 day backpacking trip. It also became really overcast and the atmosphere on the hill was rather initimadating! After all, I hadn't seen a human for 4 days by the time I reached this hill via Viewing Hill!!morgs4mountains24/03/2022
Circuit from Crookburn Bridge (NY781357) with Alex, taking in Harwood Common, Burnhope Seat trig & Burnhope Seat summit. Very misty, no views today.Tony J14/11/2021
From burnhope reservoir up the causeway track then across to burnhope west and down via high watch currick. Mostly an uninspiring bit trot would hate to be here when the ground is sodden as it was mostly dry and I still had to avoid bogs.emily18/09/2021
Followed fence line from great Stoney hill till like of stones was visible and made way over. Very boggy2510chris05/03/2021

Walked up lane from Ireshopeburn to join Nuttalls route 10:1 to Three Pikes, Great Stony Hill, Harwood Common, Burnhope Seat and Dead Stones.dgresty21/07/2020
In an approximately 9 mile circuit of Harwood Common, Great Stony Hill and Three Pikes. Parked at the start of the track at 814352, followed track off to the left after a short distance (a bit boggy in parts where it crosses rivers) to its end of left fork just below Scaud Hill, then followed bits of tracks up to ridge and then across to Harwood Common summit - then followed fence to Great Stony Hill (well as far as possible avoiding the bogs)JulieB23/06/2020

Parking area at bottom of ski slope. Up past ski lift to BurnhopeSeat trig. Then out and back to Harwood Common and out and back to Dead Stones and Nags Head. Lots of boggy ground, peat hags and tussocks. Made sure of Burnhope Seat on return and the cairn. Some views over to Cross and tghe Dun fells but hazy. Bit of a slog.mart079725/07/2019

Parked on B6277 to the south, and made my way up to the E of Long Gill Sike but never found the Ski Tows on the OS map. Headed for the summit, and found the small pile of stones in the mist / low cloud. Decided to bail out for the day.madaddo09/07/2017
on ridge walk from Burnhope Seat to Great Stony Hill- see Burnhope Seat for log of walk. Unusually dry underfoot made this entire high level section very pleasantpwheeler06/05/2017
Peat hags everywhere, remarkably beautiful view on clear day but better in welly boots really. Probably grim if wet. 3rd of day. Solo.Tom D07/04/2017
Nuttall Walk EN 10.1 Burnhope Seat from Burnhope Reservoir. Three Pikes, Great Stony Hill, Harwood Common, Burnhope Seat (summit and trig) and Dead Stones. Very wet underfoot! 22km with 560m ascent in 7 hours. (S)silveracorn_alan01/03/2017
Started at Burnhope Resorvoir parking on the NE end of dam. Walked along N side of resorvoir to the far western end. Took track leading up the hill side to Green Laws and Highwatch Currick. Battled with into the wind to Dead Stones and into the low cloud. Welcome stop in the shelter on Dead Stones before continuing to south to Burnhope Seat, Scraith Head, Harwood Common, Scaud Hill finishing on Great Stony Hill. I returned via the rough track down to Grasshill Causeway and the resorvoir.axe.stephen19/02/2017

FIFTH CONSECUTIVE FINE DAY AT ALSTON BASE CAMP. DROPPED OFF ON B6277 BELOW THREE PIKES AND REASONABLY EASY ASCENT EXCEPT AT TOP. DOWN TO COLL AND EASY OVER GREAT STONY HILL. THEN LONG BUT STRAIGHTFORWARD TRUDGE TO HARWOOD COMMON AND QUICKLY ON TO BURNWOOD SEAT. SUMMIT IS NOT AT TRIG POINT BUT 200+ METRES WEST OVER POOLS AND REEDS - UGH! QUITE BOGGY ON TO DEAD STONES, THEN EASY DESCENT WEST TO BE PICKED UP ON MINOR ROAD AT END OF FOREST.BURGESS29/09/2015

Nuttall walk 10.1. Failed to find the mine track they mention so had to weave in and out of the haggs. Stick to fence it's easier.mick13/09/2014

Followed the Nuttalls' route. It is very dry at the moment, so the going is easy - I would advise going to do these now! (Or next time it's dry... Would be awful after a wet period!) With DadAGWilliamson30/07/2011

I took previous visitors advice and came up on a hot day in the driest summer for years. Even then this summitt has nothing to recommend it. Small cain on top. I visited it twice, once on way out and once on way back.Father Ted03/07/2011

As Nuttall route except Three Pikes which is one top too many on this fairly horrendous bog trot. My advice is to do it after a dry spell in the middle of summer!David Gradwell09/10/2010
Cold wintery day - wet underfoot, strong icy winds and blustery showers with sleat. Some great little stone lined mine shafts to look down (careful not to fall in) on the SE slopes below this Nuttall.andrew larkins28/03/2010
