1 of 3: From parking at the west side of the house at Rough Rigg. Bridleway to Coldberry End then up. With Karen. | ChrisR | 20/04/2023 |
From Burnhope reservoir, Nuttall walk 10.1: Three Pikes (hideous boggy mess),Great Stony Hill, Harwood Common, Burnhope Seat Trig and true summit, and Dead Stones. Good walking weather, cool with good visibility. This is a really tough walk due to the terrain (peat hags, heather & bog) and long sections with no paths. | Lazylizzie | 25/08/2022 |
JohnW | 14/08/2022 | |
Four tops in three short walks. Viewing Hill a mixture of the good track and easy if pathless ground. Supposedly on the bridle path from south of Rough Rigg but after the gate this does not seem to exist on the ground so ad libbed across to great Stony Hill and across to Three Pikes which does now have a small neat cairn. Then the short walk to Middlehope along the county boundary, this too now has a nice tall new cairn. | dickscroop | 08/07/2022 |

My 23rd and final summit on a 6 day backpack and I am so glad that this was the final top. A lovely white painted trig point on a prominent top that gave absolutely brilliant views in all directions. Absolutely superb! | morgs4mountains | 26/03/2022 |
Very easy ascent out-and-back from B6277. Good track then headed across easy grass to summit. Perfectly clear and sunny but very windy on top. Earlier that day we bagged Widdybank Fell. I would say this is a contender for the most easiest mountain in England! | DanTrig | 19/03/2022 |

From burnhope reservoir up the causeway track then across to burnhope west and down via high watch currick. Mostly an uninspiring bit trot would hate to be here when the ground is sodden as it was mostly dry and I still had to avoid bogs. | emily | 18/09/2021 |
Parked at entry to track for Grass Hill Farm then ran up the track until I encountered a gate, at which point I followed the unmapped fence to the left, up to the trigg at the summit. Back down to the gate and kept straight on to head for Three Pikes before descending to the road at Rough Rigg and running back up the road. | madaddo | 02/09/2021 |
Parking at Rough Rigg. N along B6277 until green lane to Coldberry End. Easy path from gate to top of Great Stony Hill. Returned to gate, then hags en route to Three Pikes can be avoided on their S side until they have to be tackled to reach a fence corner which provides a mustering point and from which a path handrails one into a MEB at the low pint of 610 metres (MEB=Man Eating Bog). From the cairn at 650 metres, recovering burnt heather patches can be linked up to join a line of shooting butts and a service path back to Rough Rigg, crossing the beck late to join the PF and use the gate. | Isbjorn | 28/08/2021 |
Along track that meets the road near Mill Syke, easy wander up tracken then north to summt. Dry underfoot, interesting remains of mine workings | Rockdoctor | 19/07/2021 |

2nd try at Nuttalls Burnhope Seat circuit also failed. Time pressure made me omit 3 Pikes, and after doing this one I fell in a bog, spent 10 min squeezing out socks and gloves before continuing, but then was texted by K to say she'd broken her wrist, so had to abort the rest and go home. Another go next year, hopefully. | IanHHill | 05/11/2018 |

A damp and overcast day for the walk up from Burnhope Reservoir. Continued on past the trig to make a circular walk back to the start. Mainly on tracks with the odd pathless and boggy section but not too bad. More tracks being made around these parts so the going may get easier in the future. An 8.5 mile walk altogether. | Walker Dan | 04/12/2017 |
Lucky | 24/11/2017 | |
By descending a short way from Dead Stones I picked up a bulldozed track leading down to Burnhope Burn, which had to be forded, and a shooting hut, after which it climbed again. In hindsight, when I got to the ridge, I could have carried on going and then taken another track from Manor Gill to shortly before the summit; but instead I followed the fence line, which was even wetter than the approach to Dead Stones, and I fell over on a muddy bank out of a peat hag. At least there were views of Burnhope Reservoir which I would not have seen from the lower track. The summit is marked by a whitewashed trig point. | peter4lc | 27/10/2017 |

Miners' track from B6277 passing near Grass Hill Farm to near path high point then 340 metres of dry moor to summit. Then relatively dry moorland plod to Three Pikes then back to B-road. | Dugswell2 | 01/07/2017 |
A purgatorial Pennine plod in heavy rain, fog and cold wind, the circuit from Burnhope reservoir. Up the path from Stripe Head, across the moor to an ATV track leading to Highwatch Currick, along the wall and then the fence. A bit of path, but numerous bogs and hags to avoid. Brief respite from the weather at the Dead Stones hut, then struck out across peat bogs and hags to Burnhope Seat. A brief section on wooden pallets at the most gruesome section avoids drowning. Found the trig and the top, then through interminable bogs to the delightfully dry and hag-free Great Stony Hill, the best top of the day. There's a fence all the way, contrary to the map, so navigation is dead easy. One last massive bog and then an easy descent on the track. | Gill | 29/06/2017 |
Reached with a little detour whilst walking the Northern Crossway, a up and down from the track. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 20/06/2017 |

Started at Burnhope Resorvoir parking on the NE end of dam. Walked along N side of resorvoir to the far western end. Took track leading up the hill side to Green Laws and Highwatch Currick. Battled with into the wind to Dead Stones and into the low cloud. Welcome stop in the shelter on Dead Stones before continuing to south to Burnhope Seat, Scraith Head, Harwood Common, Scaud Hill finishing on Great Stony Hill. I returned via the rough track down to Grasshill Causeway and the resorvoir. | axe.stephen | 19/02/2017 |
