From 936073 via William Gill.Good track but the stream was in spate and I had to paddle through 4 inches of water where the path fords the stream. Then about a km of rough heathery pathless ground to get to the summit. My final English Nuttall, but not a compleation,as I won't be doing Pillar Rock.andy6302/10/2019
Up to Rogan’s Seat from Gunnerside, across to the nearby trig point and then around to Pinhope Seat.Eggletina08/08/2019
Drove the track to NY 9203 0581, deteriorates over last 500m, 4x4 mainly needed for ground clearance. Good walking track from there to grouse butts whence rough heather/grass moorland.jonglew26/07/2019
Outstanding route from Muker through the meadows, along Swaledale and up Swinner Gill before heading along shooting tracks to close to the summit then across to Water Crag a la Nuttalls but went back down the same way. Just over 4 hours round trip.clivevilla11/09/2018

Same as Gerry B. (except went S when he went N!!) On me own.CJM15/05/2018
Pretty much as per Nuttall's 11.3, though messed up by crossing Gunnerside Gill too early which added unnecessary effort onto an already long day.milimana18/04/2018
Keld - Pennine Way to Catrake Force - West Wood - Crackpot Hall (Ruin) - Swinner Gill Lead Mines (Ruins)- rose onto moor along East Grain (recently repaired path thanks) - then Coast to Coast path - taking the buff coloured track just past the C to C double headed sign heading for summit past the High Man Stone - Rogan Seat summit- then overshot to follow fence (Snowy drifts /low cloud) to bag trig on Water Crag. Retraced our snowy footprints back to the track and returned whence we came.briandavies18/02/2018
Cycled from Surrender Bridge to end of track at Blakethwaite then heather plod to summit.chalky195326/09/2017

Water Crag and Rogan's Seat from Tan Hill Inn.lenman01/05/2017
Rogan's Seat and Water Crag. More or less followed route 11.3 from the Nuttall's book with the exception of going up to Crackpot hall (which still has a pan on the cooker even though it was abandoned in 1953) and also, on the way down I didn't notice the instructions to keep below “Lord Peel's shooting cabin” but I found another path that took me down to Blakethwaite Lead Mines and crossed the river there. Grouse shooting was going on at Swinner Gill and there were dead grouse on the track, one of which was not as dead as the others which I didn't like. Had lunch in the shooting hut at GR NY 922024 (thanks for leaving it unlocked, Lord Peel's cabin was locked). Had just become dark when I eventually got back to Muker.tsharp10/01/2017

From Rogan's Seat. Very cold and windy. Then on over rough terrain to Tan Hill for a very welcome sit down and pint before returning to Keld via Pennine Way and then road.ruthatlast20/02/2016
Good views on a clear day. Use the track up then cut across to the cairn, heather heavy going otherwise.Tom D10/02/2016
From the Tan Hill Inn, overcast conditions.JohnStoneham02/08/2015
Parked at Gunnerside, followed lanes up to Rogans Seat Summit, followed fence over rough terrain to Water Crag then followed tracks and paths across to Great Pinseat back down to Gunnerside via lanes across the moors, raining for most of the walk eventhough clouds were well above summits, 13.5 miles.DanTrig02/05/2015

From Whaw in Arkengarthdale. Whaw Bents, Great Punchard Gill, West Moor, heather bashing to top, down via William Gill, along road to Roe Beck Bridge, across to Ravens Park and up Cleasby Hill, track/bridleway back to Whaw. Dry and bright/sunny, but a cool wind.PaulH16/04/2014
From Muker via Swinner Gill, and Rogan's Seat, returned by same routeWestdenewalker14/04/2014
Fairly painless mile or so over from Rogan's Seat. Great views but forecasted warm southerly wind failed to materialize! Tried to head over towards Great Pinseat but pathless terrain some of the toughest I've come across so went back down via the old mine buildings in the valley.signyred05/03/2014
From Tan Hill Inn via Rogan's Seat. Great views north over Stainmore. Descended to Annaside Edge and took a line similar to the non-existent path back to the pub.Jake99422/02/2014

Completed as part of a round from gunnerside to melbecks moor and Rogans seat. Walked with graham and Ruben. Sunny day.karencooke19/05/2013
Clear day with occassional snow underfoot. This was tortuous on descent from Water Crag - actually took more time to get down than go up!SS16/02/2013

If travelling from Tan Hill remember that the bridleway signposted just east of it does not exist. Instead, go along the adjacent access road, turning off after about 200m. You can then follow this track almost all the way to the summit, assuming you remember to turn south and head uphill immediately after the first shooting butt. This vehicular track takes you to within 200m of the summit trig point. If in doubt, turn east well before the Gridcom building (the one with the strange attachment on the top) and pass close to the fenced off swallow hole (a metal cage around it) which is visible some distance away.moorsman18/06/2012

With G. Parked near Tan Hill Inn vaguely following route of non existent bridleway > Annaside Edge > Water Crag > Rogan's Seat > East Gill Head then WNW to Pennine Way > Tan Hill Inn.RT197029/08/2011
Walked up from the Tan Hill pub. The recent very dry conditions made the going easier than normal. Path hard to follow in places. Could mainly follow the shooters tracks except for the very last bit. Great pint of Black Sheep on return.Father Ted22/04/2011
