Parked up at Yad Moss and made way down trail before striking for the summit by loosely following one of the fairly dry streams. Low cloud (ever descending) made it quite eerie on the top with visibility down to about 30m. Not good weather for any ‘viewing’!madaddo10/07/2019
As Nuttall route 9.6 and still largely pathless on the tops. Overcast day but generally dry going.milimana19/05/2019

Cycled from Cow Green c/p via old miners track to NW to second mine ruin at NY 783 327. Left bike and walked to high point. Cairn made of flat stones with 1m long pole made locating the top quite simple.John Lee04/11/2017
I stopped on the B6277 near Crookburn Bridge and climbed Viewing Hill. There were maybe only 150 feet of ascent once the old mine track had been left.peter4lc06/05/2017
Walked from the road on my own. Dry and pleasant. A bit breezy but the wind wasn't cold so it was fine.flockwatcher30/04/2017

Basically the Nuttalls' route. Route N from summit to B6277 hard-going due to many peat hags. High cloud cover, but dry. Deep lying snow in gullies.marktrengove03/03/2013

This was one of the hardest tops to find but it was quite fun wandering around it in pleasant weather. The sheep at the start counted me out and counted me back! Very watchful creatures!ruthatlast15/10/2011
With Dad from Garigill. Not a particularly thrilling peak either. Last peak of the day, then followed road and ultimately South Tyne Way back to Garigill. Day with lots of bog trotting. Don't care to repeat in a hurry.AGWilliamson13/06/2011

After doing Bellbeaver Rigg- an improvement, with a walk by the Tees headwaters, on to the top (good views), then back to the mine track back to Yad Moss. More or less the Nuttalls route for these two hills, the first third of the walk dull. I'm sure it was much improved by the hard packed snow in the peat hags. With Petepwheeler13/03/2005
With Jo, circular walk from Cow Green reservoir: Viewing Hill and Bellbeaver Rigg. Only difficulty was crossing Crook Burn. Weather; cloudy, windy with rain at end of walk. Visibility; good/moderate.amblerbob26/09/2004
