From Cross Keys up to Yarlside roughly along the line of the county boundary. Nothing to show this on the ground but after a short distance a good path forms up and leads you all the way. Then pathless down to across to the bridle way leading on to The Calf. Decent path all the way around to Fell Head, back same way and out to Calders. From there fence and path north east and east to pick up a larger path that took me around the south end of Cautley Crag without difficulty. back to The Cross Keys for a very pleasant glass of temperance Sarsaparilla. Good food also but only open Fridays and saturdays and then ony until 4.30.dickscroop22/07/2022

A crossing of the Howgills from Sedbergh to Tebay with Christine, Eric, and Steve visiting Winder, Arant Haw, Calders, Bram Rigg Top, The Calf, Bush Howe, Fell Head, Uldale Head, and Blease Fell. A perfect day for walking on the velvet turf of the Howgills, although distant views compromised somewhat by the poor air quality. 20km with 1050m ascent in 7hours.silverwolf_alan24/03/2022

Howgills walk with Lindsey and GMC group (8 in all) from Cross Keys Inn (A683). Followed the glacial valley to the steep ascent beside Cautley Spout. Crossed the beck above the falls then path above Cautley Crags to Calders. Followed clear track north to The Calf then on to Bush Howe and Fell Head. Lindsey and I returned via The Calf, Force Gill Beck, and Cautley Spout (the GMC group went on to Simons Seat, Hazelgill Knott, Yarlside, and Randygill Top). Dry day, very sunny, but windy with gusts strong enough to make walking arduous.Skip19/03/2022

Looks a big brute of a hill when approaching from the south, but features a measly collections of stones to form the cairn. Views up the Lune Gorge very good. Steep descent down to Whin's End, then Castley Knotts and onto Howgill Lane for the return trudge back to Sedbergh and an excellent pint... and rest.JOHNS09/06/2019
