Day trip on the train from Leeds to Horton, then along the Pennine Journey/Way onto the PYG/Plover ridge. After Plover Hill tracked back and up Pen y Ghent. Cloud lifted so had some views. Descended down the nose and back to Horton station. It's been many years since my last ascent and was pleased to see the flagstone/cinder trails on the hill rather than the previous bogfest given the number of users. A donation to the upkeep seems a small price to pay. With Gillian.richard6918/11/2022

Left Town Head Farm around 10.30. Took the signposted route up to the summit arriving at the trig point around 1pm. The weather set in so had a leisurely lunch sheltered behind a wall. Descended via Hull Pot which was reached at around 2pm. Well worth the detour as the river was flowing over the waterfall due to the heavy rain. Completed the descent finally arriving back at the farm around 4pm. A fantastic day.TractorBoy29/10/2020

Trainer/Leader with 16th Harrogate Scouts. An overnight bivvy camp on the summit of Pen-y-Ghent. Left Horton in Ribblesdale around 8:30pm and ascended via Brackenbottom summiting around 10:30pm. Summit drink then settles down for the night in bivvy bags few hundred metres N of summit. In the morning hot drinks and porridge and descended ay back to Horton arriving in time for the cafe to open. Weather was fine & clear, having been very hot recently a night at higher altitude was very comfortable. During the ascent of the southern flank crag there was a fresh north easterly blowing making it feel quite exposed.higlett30/06/2018

From Stainforth via the length of Fountains Fell. Up from Blishmire House, with only a little bit of trespassing and a short section of tussocks and heather. After that, there's a vehicle track up to the gate leading into the enclosure labelled Crooke on the OS map. There's a steep but very easy climb on short grass and moss, then along the E side of the wall to the summit. Then all the way down the ridge to Stainforth, which is a right bog fest. But at least it allows a good circuit to bag both Marilyns.Gill31/10/2015

1st summit on the Classic Y3p's from Horton-in-Ribblesdale with Sheeba. Lovely mountain profile with interesting rocky outctops. Sunny on ascent becoming misty with atmospheric flurries of clouds flitting by to total misty immersion on the top. Would Have preferred a bit more of a ridge Walk but the Pennine way takes you down immediately and then over Blea moor on the fairly new constructed path. We started at 8.00am, reached summit at 09.30 but Wouldnt be at Whernside until 15.30!!.Dazingdale27/04/2014

From Horton via Brackenbottom to compleat the Three Peaks in a day for the first time. We got to the wall jct below the crags in 1973 but a violent thunderstorm had broken and we were sensible and went down. As was customary on the Boddington Hall annual 3 Pks walk, we walked down to the Helwith Bridge Inn, run by a former catering manager of the hall of residence, for pie and pies and beer.pwheeler17/06/1974

First of the Yorkshire 3 peaks walk. Up from Horton in Ribblesdale and up a well worn path and steps near the summit. Very steep clamber over rocks before the summit area. The top adorns a wall and a trigpoint. Descent towards the bogland towards Whernside.ChinnockCblank
Lovely walk and mountain, with family, on a beautifully cold February 2013 half-term day, with snow on the ground. Great top for a picnic and gorgeous views all roundmazzblank
