Parked on small lay-by at SD 818 410. Climbed to N end of summit plateau via Brown House. Trig, then back to Barley via Spence Moor and Ogden Clough. Saw and heard curlews in the pasture and skylarks on the top. Misty start which burned off revealing yesterday’s snowfall under bright sun. Paths all very clear but some soggy patches on Spence Moor.Vulcan03/03/2024

With Izzy and Margo. Parked at the crossroads near Roughlee at SD 83644 39916. Walked up to and past the Upper Ogden Reservoir. Then made a bit of a navigation cock up and came up via Cat Holes rather than Boar Clough as intended. Sadly no views at the top but they soon cleared. Very cold into a northerly wind. Down via the Pendle Way into Barley and a pint at the Pendle Inn (disappointing).James McKnight11/02/2024
Solo. From Barley via the Ogden reservoirs and then the path up Boar Clough to the summit of Pendle Hill. Went north before descending down stone steps and the directly back to Barley. Saw hardly anybody on the ascent but there must have been more than a hundred making the ascent on more direct routes. A beautiful summer day.pwbellarby09/08/2023

Parked at Barley Picnic Site. Donation £1 which helps the parish council with up keep. Took the path out past both lower and upper Ogden reservoirs, which then rises beside Boar Clough. This is a far easier way up than coming up the steep face directly from Barley or Barley Lane. Passing trippers puffing their way up as I decended to Barley, I knew I’d made the wiser move.Pete West05/06/2021

3rd hill of 5 today with Lesley on a circular walk from Sabden via Clitheroe then Worston to the Ridge, then Worsaw Hill via Warren Hill dropping down to Hookcliffe then up via Clough scrambling in and out of the watercourse emerging on rough ground to climb over a stone wall before reaching the zig zag track dropping down South from the forestry plantation North of Downham Moor. The track breaches the summit plateaux, from there I took a bearing for us to reach the concessionary footpath running to the wall and stile and from there the Pendle Way was taken to reach the Trig pillar. I thought the land about 2m to the west or the Trig pillar was marginally higher. We continued South on a track heading for Upper Ogden reservoir continuing on to Rigg of England...Dazingdale15/10/2017

A double bag on a stunning Bank Holiday Monday - blue skies and sunshine. Followed the hordes from Barley to Pendle House, then followed the left hand branch to the top. Strolled round to Spence Hill, down to Upper Ogden reservoir, found it was only 2.30, so nipped up Boar Clough to the top again, to make the most of the day. A wonderful hill that offers an eerie atmosphere at the summit. The walk is quite steep and sharp and hard work if you are unprepared. Once at the top the views are a bit of an anticlimax especially to the south. The area has an eerie feel to it and the summit offers a small trig. The hill is extremely windy at the summit and no matter how many times I climb Pendle hill it never ceases to surprise me how windy it is on the summitBuryFCA104/02/2013
