Memorable circular walk. Started well with great views. Thick fog rapidly descended and we arrived back just too late at the castle car park- they'd locked it!! £70 taxi ride back to Manchester followed by car collection the next day made it the most expensive walk in a long while.Lazylizzie03/02/2024
5 of 10 as part of 27 mile bike ride. From hills bank the road seemed to climb for a long way. Gasping by the time reached the top. Headed to the castle first then off reading round to the old man then the trigThe-Z-Man13/01/2024

1000th hill bagged with this one today. Parked near folly and headed up towards trig point with family in tow. Surprisingly difficult to find - looked near masts and finally worked out we had to go back down and come up from below, going past the Old Man of Mow. Very windy and cold so we took a quick picture and scarpered.Wheelsy20/02/2020

Here to bag the trig pillar and spy out the rock. Hadn't realized there was a bag on HB for the trig. Roadside parking to the W. Trig and rock easily accessible on a NT track.jonglew04/11/2017
Quick visit w Jenx and Bryher on way back north. Damp day so didn't dally. Castle CP, visited the folly then up to high point at trig. Good recce of the Old Man which will return to on a better day with the rope for a scramble up. Best access to trig in from track underneath rather than what would be through a garden from East.nordicstar11/07/2017
Pouring with rain. Had a good walk around the whole area to exercise the pup. Good to see the old man and folly too.jenx11/07/2017

From Castle car park at SJ 85698 57393. We were in thick mist and the Old Man looked menacing! As for climbing it - no chance. I wouldn't touch it with over a dozen 10ft barge poles!David Gradwell13/12/2016

I love this hill, it's quirky and unique, an expansive viewpoint and gorgeous to walk. Also symbolically marks the beginning / end of The North whenever I happen to pass by it on a journey.Jake99425/04/2009
NOT CLIMBED. Folly well worth a visit - car park below it. Old Man of Mow very impressive. Didn't bother standing on the trig - too dangerous.destaylor29/01/2009

Trig visited along with summitting the real objective -The Old Man - climbed with Pete Hemmings via Spiral route (VS)- care required not to get a rope jam or runners lifting out. Awkward keep out fence climbed over with help of NT no climbing sign to stand on! Whispered climbing calls in case a nearby resident came out and told us off. Abseiled off old bolt on top. Down to Dartmoor next day for week climbing on Lundy.Chris Pearson26/05/1990
