From the Causeway car park in Cliffe, E up road/footpath to golf course. Nobody around but followed golf course perimeter on established dog walking path firstly N, then E until meeting a public footpath sign (not on OS map) heading into Malling Down nature reserve. Path follows the top of the bowl to about 200m W of the trig point. From here a quick short walk across the fairway to hp.richard6907/10/2022
From Glynde Car Park, up road a small way then picked up PROW to ridge, then followed path around ridge. Through opening in fence from path onto golf course not to far from trig. Followed path down into Lewes then did a circuit by following the Sussex Ouse Valley Way along the river until it met the South Fowns Way near Itford, then up onto Beddingham Hill and down track back to Glynde. 13 mile circuit but all very easy walking.JulieB11/02/2022
Parked at the little laybe car park for Malling Down Nature Reserve and had a walk (very steep) up to the summit. There is a public footpath through the golf course where you can quickly access the summit. Also a farm gate at the very top that's easily climbed. Golf course was very quiet due to it being early and bitterly cold and windy! Lovely walk from here through the town of Lewes and then onto Ditchling Beacon.jamiequackers21/12/2021
Parked just past Glyndebourne and walked up Weeks Lane bridleway to access ridge. Didn't realise there would be a golf course on top.Mark Sims23/09/2021

From nature reserve car park to the north. Couple of hop-over gates to access the fairway. No golfers today probably due to arctic weather.Andy West06/04/2021
Parked at Tesco in Lewes. Up steep road to golf clubhouse and round the path to the right after being told not to cross course. Good path round side though and then across barbed wire back onto course near top. Ran across fairways and up to trig pointketzster31/03/2021
Walked up from the town, found a way across the golf course to top. There is a good track which I found on the way down which leads almost to the monument.Buteobuteo19/11/2020
More difficult than anticipate due to barbed wire fence bounding the golf course. Parked in minor road at 422112 and followed track through gate into country park. Continued to follow track, but turned left through gate to follow outside of golf course. Big mistake. Frustratingly followed the fence until found a gate at eastern extremity of the course. Asked a member if I could photograph the TP, and followed him up the fairway to the green, with TP just beyond. Returned by same way, but there must be a shorter route, possibly avoiding turning left and passing through gate straight on, contouring above the steep valley head.Dartmoorman18/10/2020
1 of 5 Southern Marilyns bagged today. It was raining - asked in the Golf shop if I can access the trig from the golf course. No probs as it was quiet and no one on the course due to rainmazz16/08/2020
Hump bagging drive around the South East before moving North.atreides788708/08/2020
5.3 mile circular from Glynde car park, followed path to Mt Caburn then after descending to Caburn bottom, ascended trail joining footpath just before it enters the gold course, ignored the sign to stay on the path and headed for the summit, as soon as we stepped off the path a golfer asked us where we were going, he seemed friendly enough, we explained we were looking for the trig pillar (explaining what one was), he said he hadn't seen one but was intrigued by the idea of one, happy enough we carried on waiting for another set of golfers to play their game on the next fairway then headed for the summit, no one at the summit fairway, took a picture and headed back down to the footpath seeing no one else, we were surprised their were any golfers about considering the 30 mph winds, we left the course and headed back to Glynde via the ridge. Quite a lot of walkers on this sunny/very windy day. Earlier that day Bagged Wilmington Hill. Later bagged Wolstonbury Hill & Chanctonbury Ring.DanTrig05/07/2020
Parked at nature reserve and walked up.Hippy7718/02/2020
Parked in Tesco in Lewes. Through Cliffe passing the church, then steep narrow road to the golf course. Round the club house to fence junction at TQ 43661 10504 ( BS with BM & rivet ) then to the summit & trig. Golfers slightly peeved at our presence. Sun tried its best to make an appearance through the low cloud.DanMaisieBex05/01/2020

Cliffe Hill and Mount Caburn from parking area by Weeks Lane. Entered the golf course by the gate at TQ 43786 10687. The direction of play is from the tee by the gate to the green by the Trig point so you can check you you not be in any ones way.DC11main14/07/2019

From Week Lane to the East on a foggy morning at 8 a.m. Just a couple of greenkeepers on the golf course who ignored me as I crossed a couple of fairways to the trig area.NormanW15/02/2019
Walk up from town via Chapel Hill to golf course. Great 360 deg views from the top.jedthehumanoid02/02/2019
Very limted parking on narrow edge of road at TQ 449110. Along 'Week Lane', then W to kissing gate into open access land. From stile at TQ 4342210427, N with steep little pull up to a Tee area, TR R around Tee area on 'rough', then between shrubs until 70 metres across 'rough' part of top two fairways.Isbjorn07/11/2018
From Lewes, up clubhouse road then across the fairways. No golfers in sightTopographer5707/08/2018

6/11 From small car park up right of way to golf course then between fairways to the top. Great location for a golf course. Returned by clubhouse.SS09/02/2018
9/11M from the club house straight through the golf course.robertphillips05/11/2017
GMn Started near wind turbine, followed path to stile to golf course then short walk North.Idris28/10/2017
Crack of dawn on misty day from the west through the nature reserve. The apparent emergence of the track onto the golf course does not exist, leading to a gorse and bramble scramble to the highest corner of the access land. The summit can only be reached by climbing the fence topped by two rows of barbed wire. If using this route it would be easier to cross the fence further west where it is near the track.ijpowell26/10/2017
From Glyndebourne via nature reserve and then a dash up the hill across the golf course and out along the ridge to the East. Few golfers about despite drizzle.prwild26/10/2017
In rain, pushing bike over golf course en route Laughton to Lewes. Rounsfell29/07/2017
The third Marilyn of the evening. A very good stroll from Week Lane on the Glyndebourne road. I took the clear grass track forking off towards a gate at the E corner of the golf course. Spectacular sunset from the summit, and late enough that the only occupant of the golf course was a nice fox. Glow worms in the hedge on the way back.Gill04/07/2017
Murky evening ascent on bike, picking way through golf course not particularly straightforward or enjoyable.steve_a28/06/2017
From Malling Hill nature reserve - evening so no golfers! On to Mount Caburn. Great views.twg2710/06/2017

From nature reserve car park to the north. Up to the left of disused chalk quarries to hillside via gate. The over to golf course via style crossing fairway to trig point. Bizzare summit. 4/8 todayN.Morters13/04/2017
From South Malling. Two hours before dark on a very wet day, with visibility down under 100m, seemed an ideal time for this one. Unsurprisingly, I met no-one. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2016/11/chanctonbury-ring-ditchling-beacon-and.htmlGayle04/11/2016
No nocturnal golfers so no problems.alda30/10/2016
The most interesting bit of the walk was at the start - Chapel Hill coming out of Lewes. Whole hill seemed to be covered by the golf course. At the trig point I was questioned by a golfer as to whether I had lost my bearings as I was 'a long way from any footpath'. I promised that I had not walked on any greens and retreated.ajd5820/10/2016
Walked across from Mount Caburn on a humid and hot day with Helen & Molly. 2 Clouded Yellows seen on the carpet of Majoram. Hopped over the style to get onto the golf course and up to the summit and trigpoint.JohRvs27/08/2016
Approached from the east and dashed across the fairway to the trig. Last hill of the day in a walk from Eastbourne to Lewes.Richard16/04/2016
Early start on this hill, having camped at Housedean Farm the previous night. As previously reported, the actual top is on a golf course, so I waited until the fairway was clear, climbed the stile onto the ninth fairway and made my way to the trig point by the eighth green.Cas-gwent05/04/2016
