From car park at Keiloch. Through Ballochbuie Forest to NO208907 where took path SE. Heather is encroaching on path making it difficult in parts. At NO229896 there is a small cairn that marks start of path to The Prince's Stone as marked on the map. Walked up this path. At end is stone engraved with: Here the Prince Consort slept on the night of the 5th October 1857 in a wooden hut. Scrambled up burn to col between Lochnagar Point 830m and Cnapan Nathraichean. Went to summit of Cnapan Nathraichean and then summit of Lochnagar Point 830m. Followed by Meall an Tionail. Descended to track near Feindallacher Burn. This avoids an area that is fenced off to allow regeneration of native pine. | pwbellarby | 27/07/2013 |
