in cloud. lots of peat hags and trenchesoatcake08/04/2023
From the Eskemulloch CP, along the track to the (worth a stop) Scalan Seminary and farm buildings and then Clash of Scalan. An ATV route leads SSE along a line of shooting butts then a narrow path to a couple of large cairns above. Followed the fence as it rises to N of Carn Liath, taking in the top before doubling back and on to Monadh an t-Sluichd Leith then to Carn Mor. Over the hags to Dun Muir and Little Geal Charn, followed by more hags (thankfully hard snow filled) to Letterach. Plenty of daylight left so we took in Carn na Glascoill, from where a stony track heads down to the River Livet and a larger track to Ladderfoot, and finally, Chapeltown, grabbing Tom a Voan for good measure. 6.5hrs.summitter12/02/2023
From walkers' parking in Chapeltown (NJ242209), along tracks past East Auchavaich and Corrunidh to Ladderfoot, continuing along excellent path following Ladder Burn to The Ladder and up to the ridge NE of Dun Muir, then following ridge over Dun Muir to Càrn Mòr, Monadh an t-Sluich Leith and past the cairn at NJ255164 to Carn Liath, returning to the cairn, descending NNW, then W, following fence to the two cairns at NJ243176, descended steeply NNW, meeting an ATV track along a line of grouse butts, followed it down to Clash of Scalan, then along tracks past College of Scalan to road at Eskemulloch, and back to start (5h20m)kdbennett25/03/2022

Finally on the soft mossy top a bit of easier going akin to floating along in carpet slippers -after the diving boot heaviness through the peat hags from MCR. Moved up several gears to trot along to the lower but more prominent cairn by fence (a sub-Docharty), Car Mor getting closer - just 2km away now. Cold wind required cag and hat on. Possible stone polygons seen on summit ridge - not perfect examples but some sorting of the stones.Chris Pearson23/09/2020

From mine car park up path to Carn Dulack pass then along ridge and on to Carn Mor. Returned by Carn Liath but dropped north so a bit of heather bashing to path and ruin before reaching car.SS26/07/2020

During a windy week in Tomintoul. With Smithy on the windiest day of the lot from deserted ski centre car park at the Lecht. Started just L of the chalet & to R of ski run then picked up fence higher up, following that all the way to Carn Liath at which point the we were nearly blown in to the next county. Not such a feat considering that it was less than 5m away, I suppose! Continued a short distance further to a prominent cairn & followed the obvious path NE over the intervening top to the summit for another glorious view. Tried to be clever coming back by traversing underneath the ridgeline to avoid the wind but picked up the wrong fence & ended up 1km off course. Back to the ridgeline & into the block headwind gale back to the Lecht. Made do with a cup of hot chocolate in the cafe rather than get blown off Carn Ealasaid.NotReallyABagger11/09/2018

From Chapeltown via Ladderfoot and nicely graded path up to the ridge. Peat hags dry and easy to negotiate today. On to Monadh an-t-Sluichd Leith and Carn Liath and back via the ruins at Clash of Scanlan.milimana02/09/2016
Parked off the A939 to the NW then up to point 747 metres then onto Carn Liath, Monadh an t-Sluichd Leith and Carn Mor on a dry, grey morning with high cloud. I returned a similar way but lower and more direct than the fence line.Dugswell219/10/2015
