Parked in the Royal Oak car park. Walked up to the end of the road, careful A590 crossing and down to Eller How. Up the public footpath to the access land, then direct up to the ruined tower, from which there is a good view. Back the same way. a round trip of 3km and 140m ascent, taking me just 50minutes from the pub.silveracorn_alan27/10/2022
Turned off the SE travelling A590 at the Lindale turn off. After crossing the dual carraigeway turn immediately right and there is parking on the grass island. Follow the slip road north until it joins the main road and the path starts directly across the road. No issues as there is a central reservation. The path is signposted as far as the open access from where it is only a couple of minutes to the top.moorsman19/05/2022

Parked at the royal oak pub in Lindale and made our way across the road and onto Ravons scar. After seeing a fox and making our way through very tough ground and “bushwacking” we hit open fell (at last) at this point it was really nice coming across a lovely tarn with 2 fell ponies. It was gorgeous. From there we made the final push up to the top and ruined tower. After a short break and looking over the sea to Morecambe we headed straight down through the woods to the lane and back to the car. We had an amazing Sunday Lunch at the royal oak and 2 pints of dizzy blonde and red wine. Got home and watched the Saudi arabia grand prix and UK snooker final then mission impossible 3 when Bec fell asleep. Great weekendScotty 2 Hotty05/12/2021

Bus to Audi Garage in Lindale then Wainwright route which was a drag between the village and getting into the lane to Eller Howe, after which it was an enjoyable short walk. Caught bus back to Keswick 1 hour latertrimarc214/05/2021

Parked on Back o’ the Fell Road (Carol stayed in car). Wet. Climbed locked gate and followed track. Tried a shortcut (not advisable!) - should have just followed the track, through a gate and up a grass slope before turning left to the top (my descent). The ruined tower at the top is only a shadow of its former self.DABT05/09/2020
Parked in Lindale...Roughly followed the route described in Wainwright's Outlying fells book...SoloDave27/08/2020
Parked on back of the Fell Road. Followed well made track to summit. Very hot. Seems to be entirely private land (?game bird reserve). No one around , strange and quiet.Lazylizzie02/08/2020

Good view across the estuary to Arnside.jenx08/12/2016
After the northern Newton Fells walked on road to Low Newton. Not able to access the FP to East as deep pools of slurry blocked path, walked road instead to lane leading to Moss End Farm.Locals there grudgingly let us through and rejoined path, up easily through grass rake and a wall to Dixon Heights, great views. Then down to col, another wall climb and a ATV track through scrubby broken and bracken ground. After minor tops and cattle a last wall climb to gain the central Newton Fell. Easy train then down through gates to minor road and car nr Pt 157.nordicstar08/12/2016
From Back o'th' Fell Lane. Left the path to have a look at the bizarrely perfect rock slab, then unwisely followed a path upwards through the jungle. Sweat pouring off me in the stifling humidity, I picked up the tracks of what I assumed was an exceptionally large deer, only to be startled by three bullocks. The bullocks were unperturbed. Higher up I encountered a lost world including some friendly goats and a fallow deer. Mercifully, there was a good summit breeze. Followed a vague track back to the 21st Century and the comfort of my 20th Century car.Wycombe Wanderer06/09/2016
Followed the track from 421818. About 45 minutes with GB.bolton25/02/2016
