From Gallt y Daren, turned round and headed back to car. Appreciated the mountain scenery all around - the outline of Rhinog Fawr particularly impressive. Raced against the soft, orange sun to see if I could get to the summit of Gallt y Daren before it set behind Moel Ysgyfarnogod and I just won. Lovely end to the day. 5.9km, 211m, 1:25. | Wycombe Wanderer | 08/10/2023 |
Like others - Park at Pont Blaen-lliw - up track and through forest. At end of track turn right at pine with red streamers to enter a wet ride leading to a gate onto open moorland. Boggy grass to the summit. | Moorponder | 15/10/2022 |
Penultimate hill, very wet underfoot all day. | colinfielding | 08/10/2022 |
Parked on a wide grass verge near the gate 80316 33599 and followed the track to the trees north of the Afon Lliw after the track finish's it's only a few meters through the widley spaced trees to reach a break taking you to the open hill side, up to the fence line and over to the summit. Two hours returning the same way and Twelve and half mile in total after continuing onto Foel Ystrodur Fawr, Foel Boeth and Moel Ymenyn. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 19/09/2022 |
From the summit of the road pass (Grid Ref 783 333) with its 531m elevation. A revisit to the ridge of Foel Boeth, Gallt y Daren, Moel Yr Wden (Bwlch y Bi), and Moel y Slates. Main reason was to bag Moel yr Wden as a Dewey, as just visited it in passing when on the Nuttall walk 13.2 in 2016. 7.6km there and back, with only 270m ascent, taking 2h 20m. | silverwolf_alan | 08/08/2022 |

From Pont Blaen Lliw. Limited parking for one/two cars. Excellent track through forest. At end of track there is a pole on the right where a ride goes through the trees and out onto open tussocky hillside to top. Fine views. | Campbell Singer | 13/07/2021 |
From layby on the B4391: Moel Llechwedd, Arenig Fawr, Arenig Fawr Sounth Top, Carreg Y Diocyn, Arenig Fawr South Ridge Top, Craig Y Bychau, Moel Llyfnant, Foel Boeth, Gailt Y Daren, Bwlch Y Bi, and Moel Y Slates. Warm day, views would have been better with less haze. Very tough walk, lots of boggy pathless parts. | Lazylizzie | 12/06/2021 |
From Pont Blaen Lliw, easy forestry track then firebreak followed by a short marshy bit up to Moel y Slates, then on to Bwlch y Bi. Returned initially by the the non existent RoW but then went back into trees at Waen Blaen Lliw to avoid what looked the worst boggy bit. Perfect solitude up here- saw no one. | stig_nest | 30/05/2021 |
Nuttall Walk 6.1 with R. Started in the fog but turned into a really nice day. | Dan Baddeley | 29/05/2021 |
Moel y Slates & Moel yr Wden from A4214 Trawsfynydd-Bala road with Rufus. Parking just before house on left when driving west, permissive path gate locked with bike lock but no sign. Track through Penllyn Forest and boggy tracks along the fence leading to both summits, returned the same way. Heavy persistent rain and mostly in the cloud base. | jacobrichmond | 27/07/2020 |

Nuttall Walk 70: WN 13.2 Arenig Fawr from West of Arenig Village. Visiting Nuttalls Arenig Fawr, Arenig Fawr South Top, Arenig Fawr South Ridge Top, Moel Llyfnant, Foel Boeth, and Gallt y Daren. Also passed by over Moel yr Wden (Bwlch y Bi) and Moel y Slates. 19km with 1060m ascent, taking 7 hours. | silveracorn_alan | 06/10/2016 |
Continuation of walk from Gallt y Daren. Followed fence down to boggy bwlch and steeply up to summit cairn. To return, followed RoW (no trace on ground) over marshes of Waen Blaen-lliw to stile, then picked up track south down the valley back to the car. Solo. | Man of Kernow1 | 18/06/2016 |
Parked 803336, room for a few cars. Followed track up through forestry. At end of track took the ride on the right through forest which comes out at wooden gate. Across the fairly wet bit to corner of field where fences meet, across 2 fences (2nd has barbed wire)to top(Moel y Slates). Then along fence line to Bwlch y Bi. Returned back via forest. | Rob50 | 30/05/2016 |

Very boggy after you exit the forest, which is a shame because it's a cracking view. | DARRENG | 07/08/2015 |

With G. Nuttalls' route 6.1 from SH 823 392 > Moel LLechwedd > Arenig Fawr > Moel Llyfnant > Foel Boeth > Gallt y Daren > Moel yr Wden [Bwlch y Bi] > Moel y Slates > dismantled railway back to start. | RT1970 | 20/04/2014 |
parked easily near gate to sse. Good track then path pretty much non existant but line east to follow - fence. Bit boggy particularly from trees onward. Suggest staying on track until about 300m from forest edge just before derelict building. Then to forest corner. If been wet wellies could be handy. | destaylor | 14/04/2014 |
Parked at GR783 333. Walked steeply up grass slope to Foel Boeth then followed fence to Gallt yr Daren. Continued following fence dropping about 60m then climbing up to summit of Moel yr Wden. Returned by same route. With SH and Ron. | wombourne | 02/04/2014 |

Parked above Pont y Gain, where snow had blocked the road. Continued up road, then track to Hafod-y-gareg and to end of track. Struggled up deep snow handrailing wall and stream to wall junction, Gallt y Daren, Bwlch y Bi, Moel y Slates and back to Foel Boeth. Followed wall SE/S to road and back. Overcast day with cloud on the ridge. Snow underfoot. DofE gold future route recce. Solo | richard69 | 28/03/2013 |

From near Arenig hamlet in a clockwise loop. Arenig Fawr is good hill, but the gem was Moel Llyfnant which is very shapely. The western hills are just a slog through bog! | SS | 26/09/2010 |
Easy bag towards end of this Nuttall route. | Dugswell2 | 27/05/2010 |
Parked at 8028533554 spaces a number of cars. Up the road and across the bog to Foel Boeth then to Galit y Daren onward via Moel yr Wden to Moel Llyfnant with Mary. A pleasant round trip but some deep bog in places in the col with Arenig Fawr. | Glenelg | 07/03/2010 |
