A circular route from Cynwyd in a ferocious storm, reaching Y Drum and Moel yr Henfaes | oldbagger27 | 13/03/2023 |
From Y Drum, over fence in corner of field into pathless deep Heather, eventually on at track to summit, back down at track to SJ076384, then dropped to track at SJ073380. Handy dry spell. | Flatfield | 23/04/2022 |
After Pen Bwlch Llandrillo and Y Drum on circuit from Cynwyd. Ground mercifully dry. Male Hen Harrier near the Wayfarer. | JohnIvor | 23/04/2022 |

5/5 on a Dewey walk from Cynwyd. A clockwise horseshoe around the valley of Afon Trystion visiting Bryn-llus, Pen Creigau’r Barcut, Moel Fferna, Cerrig Coediog, Cefn Perfedd, Moel yr Henfaes [Pen Bwlch Llandrillo Top], Y Drum and Moel yr Henfaes. 22.6km with 1000m ascent in 6h20m. Parked next to the shop in Cynwyd (no restrictions on sundays) and followed the Nuttall route East with a spur up to Liberty Hall to take in Bryn llus, from here I pressed on to Moel Fferna, along the ridge taking in Cerrig Coediog and Cefn Perfedd before arriving at the Nuttall top of Moel yr Henfaes, from here I followed the hills over Y Drum and the Dewey Moel yr Henfaes. If your lucky when striking out for the last top you'll walk over a grassy track heading North East which will take you back to Cynwyd forest albeit having to cross a grazing field at 07959 39525 to access the forest tracks that you follow left back to the car. Fourteen and half mile in Six and quarter hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 09/05/2021 |
With Y Drum on Cynwyd horseshoe.. Descent down using heather racks, pasture and two belts of forestry. Over low river and up into field before walking west to forest car park. With Andy. | Campbell Singer | 21/04/2021 |

The 8 summits around Cynwyd Forest anti-clockwise with Rufus. Parked at far end of reservoir and took forest track to open hillside, used a mixture of fences and rough tracks for navigation but plenty of the round is in deep heather. A good logical round for the northern Berwyn and took just over 4 hours at a fast pace - 16km 700m ascent. | jacobrichmond | 01/09/2020 |
4/6 - long round from road at Nant y Dramwys Wood - cold. I/M rain. Weather deteriorated after dark - in darkness - slog up through the heather is a bit of a struggle | wychwood | 15/11/2019 |
from yr drum then back to car via east to edge of plantation and tracks | underhill | 15/06/2019 |
Solo | Aimless Rambler | 25/05/2018 |
From Y Drum, the previous pleasant pastures suddenly became more awkward heather, but dry. Sizeable cairn on top. Descended heathery slopes to the W to regain track back to Rhos-y-maerdy. | Aye Jimmy | 12/05/2018 |

10 hill circuit based around Cadiar Bronwen. Start and finish on a forestry track not far from Cynwyd. Fantastic, sunny Saturday with hardly anyone on the hills. | BobHancock | 22/04/2017 |
Parked at 082398 up Welsh water gravel track after asking permission from Board men on site. Followed track to 093389 then west direct to summit. Dry but could be hard in wet weather. With Marli. | bolton | 18/04/2017 |
Hmmm. My second top was supposed to be the tump north of ceriog forest. But the lane is now undriveable from the dee approach. So in a bit of a mood I drive into the forest for the tops I'm missing up here. Mood brightened when I found there was nothing to stop me driving all the way in ti the bridge over the Tristion. From here the Dewey top was easy picking. This top still required some heather battling though. Lovely top with a nice perspective of the big hills. | stig_nest | 15/05/2016 |

Climbed in enjoyable snowy conditions for my Denbighshire Tump completion. | Alex C | 05/03/2016 |
From Cynwyd (River Dee in spate) up forestry track then direct climb to Moel yr Henfraes (Dewey) through rather damp heather. Onwards from there to the Hewitt and lunch at the memorial (sheep cropped slopes treacherous). Took track back to dry to dry feet and legs out. Good views all round. | SS | 27/12/2015 |
Horseshoe of 4 Deweys from minor road to E of Cynwyd. | RobertP | 02/08/2015 |

Bryn Llus, Pen Creigiau'r Barcut, Cerrig Coediog, Pen y Lladron, Moel yr Henfaes (Nuttall) Y Drm, moel yr Henfaes (Dewey). Good paths and tracks most of the way. | ijpowell | 31/07/2014 |
Last Hill of 9 reached today on the First day of 6 Hillwalking from Llangollen to Machynlleth. It was a bit of a slog up through the Heather. I saw a rock with around 30 millipedes on it. This was the first hill that I really wanted to climb as I walked the N Berwyn way from Corwen to Llangollen. I found a track that zigzagged down to a fence and over that a large field with a track running alongside. | Dazingdale | 04/05/2014 |
From Cynwyd, a round of Bryn-llus, Pen Creigiau'r Barcut, Moel Ffarna, Cerrig Coediog, Pen y Lladron, Moel yr Henfaes [Pen Bwlch Llandrillo Top], Y Drum and Moel yr Henfaes. A nice horseshoe for this area. | rhalstead | 07/04/2014 |
Parked easily at end of road to north. Followed track then grass to 7550. Hill is heather covered but plenty of wide paths where it has been cut. | destaylor | 21/06/2013 |

Last one of 4 today on a 11 mile circular walk from Llandrillo. | heavyhorses | 19/04/2013 |
Parked by gate at SJ 05561 39382, although there is space for a few cars higher up at end of metalled road at Rhos y maerdy. Took lane and green road up to start of access land at Nant y Cwm, then up steeply through grass and heather (one fence to cross, but barbed wire can be avoided) to cairned summit. Returned same way. Brillant sunny weather. Lost camera where I parked. If found, there will be a reward! e-mail me at marktrengove@hotmail.com. | Man of Kernow1 | 21/10/2012 |
