Ascended from nearby forest road.Rob Rees25/11/2023
From good parking at SN 84620 44120. Could have driven on the open and excellent forestry track to within 400ms of top but combined with Banc y Ddinas with long walk back along main road. Access land is very tussocky.Campbell Singer11/11/2023

Parked in entrance to forest, opposite Sugar Loaf Halt. Easy forest tracks to within 400m of summit, then nasty tussock.PGCE19/07/2021
From Sugar Loaf Halt via forestry roads in the evening sun. 9km with 280m ascent in 2 hours (S)silveracorn_alan28/07/2020
Parked in Llanwrtyd Wells and walked long a forestry track up Cwm Lletgwial. The firebreaks marked on the map don't exist and we crawled on our hands and knees through close packed forestry. It was a relief to reach open moorland and the summit. With JT. Walked continued to Banc y Ddinas.Sprog19/07/2020
retern from mynydd trawsant from trck bend sw over tussock nice top with tp in cairn on to banc y dinasunderhill27/06/2020
walked in up forest track from Sugar Loaf Halt station. Dark. Windy but rain ceased, skies eventually cleared. Trig point is neatly obscured in then summit cairnwychwood13/01/2020
Branched off Real Ale Ramble route, approached from NW, very rough ground, dark and wild.richardrosser24/11/2018
Second of two Dewey's on a 11 mile walk from a clearing by the side of the road inbetween the two cattle grids at 804 487. Taking under four hours. route first took in Mynydd Trawsnant, follow the forest road until virtually south of the top and from there you can access the top via some tussocky ground.WAYNE ROWLETT09/06/2018
Approached from gravel forest track from the SW along forest boundary over very boggy, tussocky, snowy grass. The Summit is a delight, with lichen covered trig (Clyncae) within apparently ancient cairn/ windshelter and extensive views. The HP is on earth/rock embankment next to cairn. We arrived in sun but departed in a whiteout. From Mynndd Trawsnant and onto Banc y Ddinas and down to Llanwrtyd Wells.Denise 17/03/2018
From Mynydd Trawsnant on maze of forest roads and finally 300m of rough going NE to ancient cairn with trig point. Icy NE wind and 'weather' on the way. Depart head down into the wind driven snow.RichardM17/03/2018
After visiting Mynydd Trawsnant in the forest we exited the trees onto the tracks and headed SE along the windy forest tacks to end up here. The last 500 meters or so is across very spongy tussocky land - hard going.Father Ted27/11/2017
Garn Wen up forestry tracks as others, across to Banc y Ddinas, down to road, under railway and up the ridge of Moel Bylchau. More or less straight down to car.clivevilla25/10/2017
Parking area at start of forest road at 845441 (space for 4-5 cars) - Snaked up forest roads to bend at 842457 & then short rough crossing to fence - Over fence & then alongside fence to trig point; rough going at first, but then faint path much of the way. (S)gerrybowes17/10/2017
Parked at Sugar Loaf Halt. Via tracks to 843.457. Easy crossing to forest fence. Very rough tussocky ground NE to summit. Fine cairn and views.Moorponder03/10/2017
Via forestry track from Sugarloaf Halt - good parking at start of track. Took RH track to bend at top then direct line to summit - ATV track useful when over the cross fence.Chris Peart28/09/2017
Walked over from the corner of the forest track to the south west. Rough terrain, then opening out to a wonderful cairn and a nice stone built trig point half covered in moss.Neolith30/04/2017
Continuation of walk from Mynydd Trawsnant. Took the forest road east for c.500m, then south with careful navigation on the forest roads to a bend on the forest edge at SN 843 458. Then tough bash north-east through Elenydd grassland to the large summit cairn (Bronze Age?). Solo.Man of Kernow105/11/2016
3/6 Third of Six (Garn Dwad/Cefn Alltwinau/Garn Wen/Banc y Dinas/Mynydd Trawsnant/Cefn Uchaf)Fergalh03/07/2016
From track opposite Sugar Loaf Halt. Up left hand track past 'closed' signs - lot of felling going on - then route march to Mynydd Trawsnant. Returned same way but over to Garn Wen (keep to fenceline - it is easier). Then down eastern track to car.SS27/02/2016
An out and back walk to pick up Mynydd Trawsnant and Garn Wen. Parked at SN 84516 45979 and followed forest road up hill to start of old firebreak at SN 82101 48311. On firebreak for a few 10s of metres and then right onto felled area to summit. Back to road. Lots of harvesting going on from parking to fire break along with associated notices. Perhaps not a good idea when harvesting is going on but on Sunday nothing happening. On road to close to Garn Wen SN 84236 45728. Then rough walking following the fence, easier there, to top. Fabulous views. Return same as out. Was going to go back through the forest but previous felling made that look difficult in places so didn't bother.MikeM19/07/2015
easy forestry track from sugar loaf station. Snow made it well scenic.dicky01/02/2015
Easy parking at end of track opposite Sugar Loaf station. Excellent track - 9km there and back so gaining height very easy. When leave the track with 500m to summit struggle a bit to fence follow it west for 100m then a fence goes off right - follow that and the terrain is fairly OK. Great summit.destaylor05/09/2014
Start ~ Sugarloaf Station. Good forestry tracks nearly to summit, last 1/4 mile rather rough though. Fine summit cairn.steve hudson21/08/2013
Walked up forestry track and then over felled area to moorland.Dusty28/05/2009
