We found space to park at SN 852215, opposite an access stile. Past the standing stone marked on the explorer map. We chose to follow steeper ground than further N off the road but the going was much better than expected- splashy bits but nowhere very boggy. On an unsettled day that gave dramatic cloud and light but no rain here during our 80 mins on the hill. Much nicer walk than we expected. With Pete, last walk of a holiday before driving back to Warwick. | pwheeler | 21/09/2023 |

Cefn Cul (Waun Leuci) from GR: SN 85310 20310 | ronaldo333 | 18/06/2023 |
Parked where path leads west to Llyn y Fan Fawr tarn 857223. Walk north up the road for 100m, there's a gate into the open access land. No path to follow, but the bog was pretty dry and fairly even, so just yomp SSE to the top. The smaller cairn to the north is near the actual high point. With Tiarnán. | Pete West | 31/05/2023 |
As PGCE from the parking area to the west just across from the stile at SN8531 2031. Path from the stile initially up an odd little area of raised ground, then various animal tracks easily to the summit. | LizH | 02/06/2022 |
Moel Feity to the source of the Tawe, up to Llyn y Fan Fawr, along the Beacons Way to the foot of Fan Foel, round towards Llyn y Fan Fach but cut up a steep path to the bwlch between Picws Du and Fan Foel, Picws Du, back over Fan Foel and Fan Brycheiniog, back down to Llyn y Fan Fawr, followed a river to the road, finished with Cefn Cul at sunset. On my own, sunshine with some cloud and quite windy at times. | clyoung | 24/04/2022 |
15.7 mile 2353ft walk, start at Dan Yr Ogof Show Caves Camp Site, follow Beacons Way up to Llyn Y Fan Fawr accross to Moel Feity, down SE to car park and up past Standing Stone to Cefn Cul down SE to Tower and along disused railway to Penwyllt Quarry, follow Beacons Way back to Dan Yr Ogof. | stephenbuda | 17/04/2022 |
Parked on the minor road between Moel feity and Cefn cul at 85574 22335, first ascending easily up Moel feity and after returning to the car headed north up the road to reach a gate following the wall to a second gate and then climbed to the summit of Cefn cul, descending due west from the summit to reach the road and a stile at a parking area 85318 20326 returning to the car via the road. Four and half mile in Two hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 06/02/2022 |
West to east traverse en route from the Black Mountain to Fan Gyhirych. | davidpettit84 | 05/08/2021 |
Nice walk but damp and misty so not much of a view | Bannor | 10/11/2020 |
From west: parking for a couple of cars, and a stile over the fence at SN 8531 2031. | PGCE | 12/08/2020 |
3/6 Dewey day. From parking near summit of minor road at SN 855 233 across grassy moorland using ATV and sheep tracks to the top of Moel Feity. Then back across to the car, straight across the road and along vague ATV track over wet ground, then up the opposite slope, hopping over the fence and again small tracks to the double cairned summit of Cefn Cul. Back along vague sheep tracks to the car. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 20/07/2020 |
From the high point of the road at Bwlch Cerrig Duon. With JT. | Sprog | 20/07/2020 |
Part of a larger day out in the Brecons, started at Pont Cwm y fedwen car park and followed the horsehoe route taking an extension onto Fan Y Big and further on to Bwlch y Ddwyallt before following the path back down to rejoin the Beacons Way and looping back round to the car park | lboutside | 18/01/2020 |
From Bwlch Cerrig Duon. Mixture of faint paths and pathless moorland grass to Moel Feity and same kind of terraine to Cefn Cul. | ijpowell | 30/08/2019 |
From the standing stone car park. | Chris Peart | 01/08/2019 |
From Tafarn-y-Garreg, Glyntawe. Took the mountain road up to a cattle grid at SN 85074 19226, to avoid the trees. There a gap in the barbed wire fence gave access to the open hill, with a rising traverse to the summit. Onwards to Moel Feity. Solo. | Man of Kernow1 | 07/07/2019 |
From a small cp below the standing stone. Path up n side of fence to corner and then sheep tracks through tussocks to summit with great views. | Campbell Singer | 28/05/2019 |
From road col, across rough but tolerable terrain with occasional trods. Both tops visited. Pleasantly warm | Colin Crawford | 30/03/2019 |
Hottest February day ever recorded in UK, stunning weather, straight up from Brecon road, very dry ground, short grass, easy walking, two high points on summit plateau then onward to Moel Feity | richardrosser | 26/02/2019 |
Small parking area on W. side of road at SN85564 22345 - Up road for about 130yd & then over padlocked gate - A fairly straightforward ascent; some tussocky bits, but also some decent ATV tracks & trods. Crossed fence by tall fence post at 8594 2158 where barbed wire has been cut. (S) | gerrybowes | 21/02/2018 |
Parked at SN 85564 22345 then headed straight up Moel Feity. Back down, over the road and fence then up to Cefn Cul. Easy going, some slightly boggy ground but plenty of sheep tracks to follow. | Neolith | 20/07/2017 |
Took an unpleasant way, keeping to access-land, through a wood and then steep ground to get to the SSW ridge. This ridge is very nice. Possibly far better to have got on to it at Dderi Farm, if the farmer doesn't mind. Then it was NNW to the yellow road at the pass. | Alan Moore | 17/06/2017 |
From road to W. Walked over to 562m spot height at SN 86184 20643, which OS obviously believe to be the HP; couldn't say whether or not it is really, but the GR given here has a cairn so much more satisfying. | jonglew | 21/03/2017 |
Up and down from roadside parking at entrance to access land. | rhalstead | 30/01/2016 |

Walked on a round of Yr Allt, Moel Feity and Cefn Cul. Parked in the layby at SN 87739 20244. Walked NE on A4067 to pick up tram way at SN 88088 20587. Followed tramway to where it crosses Nant Gihirych and then walked E keeping forest on right. Came out on track above forest at SN 90190 20842 and then to top of Yr Allt. Walked back to track and left it where it does a S bend and crossed moorland to SN 89247 81854. Followed track down to A4067. Crossed to Cray reservoir and followed track to Blaencrai. Used field path to Cwm Padest then road to Cwnnenynydd. Turned L and followed track up to sheep pens and crossed moor to road. Out and back to Moel Feity. Then across moor and up to top of Cefn Cul. Followed track and eventually walls down to SN 87116 19657. Followed old railway bed NE back to layby. Route follows a mixture of sheep trods, tracks, some vague, and moorland walking. Good views of Fan Gyhirych, Fan Hir and Fan Byrcheiniog. Quite a few barbed wire fences to negotiate. | MikeM | 25/07/2015 |
2/6 terrain not as easy as Moel Feity but still not so difficult wonderful views, | Fergalh | 19/07/2015 |
Parked at layby by stile but had to go 100m uphill to cross bog. Going tussocky to start but got better on way to Cefn Cul. Returned to col over better ground then easily up Moel Feity on shorter grass. Returned same way and down road to car. | SS | 18/03/2015 |

A pleasant mountain with great views of Fan Gyhirich, Fan Brycheniog and also further across to Pen y Fan/Cribyn. I was surprised nobody had previously logged it. Less than an hour round trip from the rmain road. | clivevilla | 05/02/2010 |

Down to the Brecons for a few days to help supervise a Gold D of E group with Jenny L and Peter from Seaford. Time inbetween meeting the group to snatch a few hills. Also traversed hill on OMM 2013 with Darren - passing a stone's throw away from summit -but every second counted on Score to bar any summit deviations. | Chris Pearson | 20/04/2006 |
access via standing stone minimises tussocks, enjoyable climb. road to W via Standing Stone | RHW | 16/05/1998 |
