With Jim, Jus and Cat. Round of Black Crags, Buck Pike, Rossett Pike, Tongue Head, Esk Pike, Bowfell North Top and Bowfell from Old Dungeon Ghyll. Pouring with rain on the way up; although it had stopped by the first summit the scramble up Black Crags from Stake Gill was brutally slippery after losing the path.wheresthepath01/10/2023

From Old Dungeon Ghyll. 15.5 km, 1050 m asc. Up by Mickleden and Stake Gill to Black Crags, Buck Pike and Rossett Pike. W to Angle Tarn and S to Ore Gap. Up to Esk Pike and S to Pike de Bield. From the NT car park at Stickle Barn. Took the Cumbria Way along Langdale and up by Stake Gill, diverting off it to climb steeply SSW up to the summit of Black Crags. FIRST DAY OF DRY SPELL. WENT UP FROM LANGDALE TOWARDS ANGLE TARN THEN OVER ROSSETT PIKE TO BAG BLACK CRAGS AND BUCK PIKE. DOWN TO STAKE PASS AND UP ONTO LANGDALE PIKES TO BAG THORN CRAG. THE SUMMIT IS AS DESCRIBED BY BIRKETT, AN OUTLIER OF LOFT CRAG, BUT OS AND PARK RANGER CONFIRM THORN CRAG IS EAST OF DUNGHEON GHYLL SO SUMMIT IS MISNAMED. DOWN DIRECT PATH TO OLD D. G. Climbed up Mickleden Beck to Angle Tarn, then the summit of Allen Crags (784m), Great End (910m), Scarfell Pike (978m) for the 'On Top of....' event and then back down via Rossett Pike (651m) and Stake Pass. From Millbeck Farm where I stayed, along the road past ODG, up the Band to Bowfell, Bowfell N. Top, across to Pike de Bield and Yeastyrigg Crags before Esk Pike. Then NW, NE and SE to Tongue Head and continued to Rossett Pike, Buck Pike and Black Crags.
