From just above Carlingill bridge on a round of Linghaw, Fell Head, Simon’s Seat, Docker Knott, Hand Lake and Uldale Head with M and V. | PeterD | 24/03/2024 |
From Tebay in thick morning mist with a promise of sunshine, up the road to Tebaygill then a handy ATV track all the way to Blease Fell. Continued on an ATV to Uldale Head, still in mist. We thought about calling it a day, but the sun was threatening to finally show its face so we went over to Docker Knott and Hand Lake. As we descended northwards the cloud cleared and the sun shined bright over the Howgill horizon. We picked up the track to Long Gills and then the minor road back to Tebay. 3.5hrs round. | summitter | 03/09/2023 |

Last top on Longdale- Simon's Seat- Over Sale- Docker Knott- Longdale fellwalk. It had the greatest feel of wildness and remoteness we'd encountered in the Howgills. We descended the N ridge to Uldale at NY 64290204 where the path shown on OS maps proved to be very good for our return by Elliot Howe and through Ellergill to get back. Interestingly, we had to climb above the lower part of Langdale on both sides to get to Longdale/ Gaisgill. With Pete | pwheeler | 14/06/2021 |
4/4 A good mid winter round from Gaisgill, getting tricky Howgill Hills, along to Longdale, up to Town Head and turn left into Cowbound Lane an old green track which spits you nicely out on the shoulder of Langdale Knott near Dickey's House (barn). From Langdale Knott summit knee killer down to Langdale beck then paddle over river (brr), up the shoulder left of Little Nevy Gill and curve right up to Simon's Seat. Continue south and then curve right contouring round to reach the Shoulder to climb Docker Knott (saves a steep down and up) and then drop and climb easily to Hand Lake. Down North ridge, cross Uldale beck and climb over should on good track which brings you all the way back down to Gaisgill. Took right hand track round the farms at th bottom to avoid being intrusive. Nice horseshoe 5 hours. | nickywood1 | 22/12/2020 |

9.2 mile circular from near Fairmile Gate, walked north along road and followed trail near Carlingill Beck, forded a few streams then climbed steeply up Uldale Heads slopes using a mixture of sheep trails and ancient tracks to col, headed west to bag Blease Fell and unlisted Hare Shaw (23m Prominence) with its cairn, then descended back to col and climbed up onto Uldale Head, descended very steeply to Blakethwaite Bottom, up onto Hand Lake and then Docker Knott, then an easy ascent onto Fell Head (2nd time bagged), descended via Whins End, forded stream then back across to car park. Very hot and sunny exhausting day, we shortened the walk for this reason. Easy Howgill terrain underfoot throughout mainly on ATV trails. | DanTrig | 05/08/2018 |

Round of Fell Head, Docker Knott, Hand Lake and then back along the Fell Head traverse to Linghaw from Fairmile Gate. Good ground. | Eddie | 20/10/2015 |
Parked at cattle grid at Fairmile Gate but there's what appears to be a purpose made parking area a little further north. Linghaw, Fell Head, Simon's Seat, Docker Knott, Hand Lake, Uldale Head, Blease Fell. A lot of up and down and not really a logical walk, but bagged 6 new tops and revisited a mountain so satisfying from a box ticking perspective. | ijpowell | 21/08/2015 |
