2nd of 6 hills on a 33km circuit from Middlesmoor. After Moss Drive, continuing on hood track that crosses a bridge and where it swings left the chasm further down peters out and a good grassy track (very springy today) was taken most of the way to the top. Continuation to Great Whernside...Dazingdale28/05/2023
Parked in Stean, followed Prow to the access track used for shooting, followed this past two huts then over a bridge, then headed up to the summit on a path made of green plastic the type used to drive vehicles over grass. On return took on Moss Drivematty1971b14/05/2023
From mapped parking just N of Studfold Farm (SE 0978 7335). Up via High Blayshaw to meet shooting track at SE 0856 7159, track nearly all the way from there. Picked up the sub-5 Moss Drive en-route and the trig pillar Mark Hill on the return.jonglew02/03/2023
From Conistone. Quite a trek! With R and B.jenx17/01/2023
Parked by the bridge in Conistone. Walked up the Dib, then followed Bycliffe Road to Mossdale Shooting Lodge, where I turned up the ATV track created by the grouse parties. At the end of the butts headed off to meet the boundary fence, turning right and followed it to until adjacent to estate track coming up from the east. Dipped down east and followed that to Moss Drive, which I missed when last on Meugher. Then back to the rubble road, and just after the bridge across the beck, turned up decent netted track for a revisit to the trig on the summit of Meugher. Then west across country to pick up the outbound route, following it back to Conistone. 20km with 570m ascent taking 5h 30m.silverwolf_alan27/11/2022
Seems to be acceptable to park on S side of road, each end of bridge (SD979674). Into Conistone and up Scot Gate Lane tk to shooting lodge (SE021700). Multiple ATV tks radiate out, I chose the grassy swathe leaving from a gravel platform behind the lodge, good initially, some plastic matting, then peters out in heather. Thin ditch leads E to a black crevasse, too wide and deep, with overhanging edges to jump – followed it ENE on intermittent faint ATV to ridge fence at hurdle, marked number 8. Over hurdle, ATV on other side, going E, immediately gets lost in a zone of MEBs, but improves. Eventually joins a 4x4 track at SE0385669898, which is an extension of the 4X4 track from Lofthouse (SE097733). Followed this to butt number 3, then rough moorland to top. Back to number 8 hurdle, and found an ATV tk heading through grass directly towards the lodge, but petered out in tough veg. From the shooting lodge upwards the whole moor is criss-crossed with ankle breaking hidden drainage ditches Isbjorn28/08/2022
From Yarnbury through the lead mines. Mostly following quad tracks. Return via a dried up Priests Tarn. 9 miles. Quite a big outing. The shooter's track up from the Nidderdale side is probably best.Pete Pozman26/07/2022
Parked to NW by activity centre. Tracks via Moor House, then ATV track for final 700m.PGCE16/03/2022
19.3 miles 2037ft walk. Start at Kettlewell, to Capplestone Gate, Meugher and Moss Drive, back to Kettlewell.stephenbuda18/08/2021
Parked near the activity centre at studfold farm and walked along the access track used for shooting, followed this past two huts until you reach the point where it crosses some water then headed up to the summit on a path made of green plastic the type used to drive vehicles over grass. Just under Ten miles in Three and a half hours.WAYNE ROWLETT20/09/2020
From Conistone, with AT. Took the path up the Dib Gorge (recommended) and then the long track over the moor up to the shooting lodge beyond Mossdale Scar. Then a pathless hike over the moor and peat hags up to the summit. A wild and lonely place. Returned by outward route. Access will be a problem on grouse shooting days. Not today.Man of Kernow112/09/2020
From Moss Drive. Looks like the quintessential hill from moss Drive and has a satisfyingly small summit for these parts. Lingered awhile and returned to Stean.Wycombe Wanderer26/05/2020
Glorious day from the east. Warm and calm until summit where a light child wind started.vegibagger11/03/2020
From Conistone up the Scout Six Dales Walk route (via the Dib) past Mossdale to Sandy Gate. Then south along the fence and across to Meugher. Back over Ragstaff Hill and down Flat Moss to the shooter's road. Turned right at junction back towards Mossdale and down 6DW to Conistone. 23km with 660m ascent in 6hours.silveracorn_alan05/02/2020
Parked in Pateley Bridge and followed Nidderdale Way to Nabs. Bivvied overnight on Wig Stones then this was third of eight hills after Moss Drive. Lovely hill, very different in character to the others around it.Wheelsy25/05/2019
Popped up on one-way walk from Grassington to How Stean Gorge. Through the lead mines (highly recommended) and then follow the track to GR 037680. Pathless section up to Meugher was pretty easy (although I think there may be some restrictions when shooting is in progress), Followed the track all the way down to How Stean Gorge.tsharp23/05/2019

From Conistone bridge. Followed the gorge, then Bycliffe road and up to the well maintained shooters house at 021701 with GB. Headed upwards over easy ground directly east to the 3 way fence. From here SE for 500m then a track which runs a good way NE towards the summit before disappearing. Just under 11 mile return and 4.5 hours in decent conditions!bolton06/12/2017

From Conistone via Mossdale to Sandygate. Beeline to the summit with many groughs in between luckily it was dry underfoot. From the top I returned by the Meugher drive to the fenceline which I followed until descent past the Priests Tarn to the track back to Conistone.reaper07/05/2017
From Yarnbury. Dry(ish) under foot. Also bagged the s5 Moss Drive. 10 miles walked in 4 hours.Alan Caine22/04/2017
With SCM. A brilliant day, clear skies and good views in all directions. Walked up narrow canyon from Conistone. Easy until we left path at the ridge, then numerous peat hags to negotiate. great hill for only a Tump!IanHHill22/04/2017

From car park at bridge up by High Blayshaw. Rights of way are non existent on ground so crossed gill higher up and took track past shooting huts before ascent over damp grass to summit. On return used aqueduct to cross the gill. I'd advise using the tracks from Stean!SS26/06/2016
From Stean. Long walk along track most of way, with prgressively more snow as gained height. Some quite deep snow on final section to the summit, the crust not quite strong enough to prevent plunging through.RobertP06/03/2016

Easy parking at end of road in Stean - by private road. Good paths/tracks to join the main track which goes practically all the way. Last several hundred metres short tussock grass and bit of heather - but not hard. Bit boggy. Fine walk. Access closed parts of May and June this year.destaylor01/10/2015
From car park at How Stean Gorge - they let me park if I would visit the cafe at the end. High level rights of way don't exist on the ground. Took track NW of How Stean Beck, then cross grass moorland to Cross Gill and Meugher.Locally pronounced 'Moofer'.Moss Drive then long track down. Based on other logs and OS map seems like easiest route.ijpowell04/09/2015
With Jo, from Conistone: tracks and moorland via Priest’s Tarn to Meugher then Moss Drive. Weather; sunny, warm, good visibility.amblerbob09/04/2015

Parked near the bridge at Conistone then up bridleway to Mossdale Scar and the shooting hut. Then up a quad track to pass 5 double shooting butts then aim for fence and first proper view of summit. Cross peat hags to summit then onto Moss Drive before heading back on a similar route. Towards the end I took the footpath down the Dib which demonstrates some fantastic limestone country.Dugswell217/07/2014
Circular walk from Grassington. Back down via the lead mines which are are absolutely fascinating.tsharp30/03/2014

Clmbed from Conistone via bridleway to Middlesmoor, from Mossdale crag straight up till meet fence, follow fence up to ridge then summit comes into veiw which a beline was made for summit.a tough little walk further than it looks on the map.robert21/01/2011
Finally got to have a go at this remote hill -a long way from anywhere. Solo - did it from Yarnbury -OK on tracks and grassy moorland until heather on crest. In cloud almost went astray on descent (foolishly no compass with me). Not a good place to head down the wrong way as miles of heather await.Chris Pearson20/11/2010
A long way for such a small hill!peebs10/11/2010
From Middlesmoor. Good tracks most of the way, last section hard going in deep snow. Farmer said Stocks Ridge near meugher is the geographical centre of Britain? Certainly felt a long way from anywhere!briandiggle23/10/2010
