Climbed from Combstone car park on the way to Snowdon. Would have been nice views if it wasn't for the low cloud and showers.RVC17/07/2023

From Combestone Tor car park via cross, on mapped paths all the way. Came back more directly on unmapped paths to just above the cross. 35 mins up, 10 at summit, & 25 down.Minto01/07/2022
From Combestone Tor car pk. Followed the direct path, faint in places. Coming back down, we finished on a little ridge to the S, still with a trod. Rather featureless moorland but with a nice open feeling of space. With Petepwheeler15/06/2022

A straight up and down Ryders Hill from Cross Furzes crossing Puper's Hill and Snowdon en route. 12km there and back with 330m ascent in just 2h50m. Clear and sunny, but still very wet on top got my second pair of boots wet today! Nice views Solo.silveracorn_alan31/07/2021

From the CP by Combestone Tor. Surprisingly difficult navigation across an unusually featureless Dartmoor table land. A great sense of spaciousness and views S and W from Petre's bound stone at the summit.Nick Down130/08/2018

From Combestone Tor cp. Grassy path all the way.Moorponder24/06/2018
Excellent walk. Overcast gave good, cooler conditions but great visibility. Parked at Combestone Tor, headed due south to trig point, but a curved route to the east would avoid tussock grass. 2 hour leisurely complete walk.Dartmoorman12/06/2018

A stunning morning. Not a cloud with bright blue sky with a sprinkling of snow. Frozen underfoot and great for fast walking. From ComescombeTor. One hour forty minutes there and back using a faint but useful track all the way.Campbell Singer07/02/2018
Parked off to NE in carpark, w Jenx and Bryher followed apparent track (on map) less clear on ground to the lovely old Horns cross. Good collection of ponies, cattle and sheep about. All good walking until reached the Holne ridge, whereupon the ground turns tussocky and wet, walking not easy. Picked up the (also wet) Sandy path for a way then followed a line direct to summit. Recommend going back the same way, we thought to head NW then N to pick up the O brook imagining a good line, not! Rough going of wet ground, tussocky grass, gorse, bracken and old heather made slow progress, burn was half interesting and met a woman there Letterboxing as they do in Dartmoor apparently. Eventually found a line to get us back to the way we came up, took 3 hours, longer then necessary and a good Dartmoor outing I guess!nordicstar06/10/2017
Very pleasant Dartmoor walking in fine weather and good views. Very wet under foot in places. Reminded of Jura!jenx06/10/2017

Moorland track from the Combestone Tor. Peace of the moor broken only by farmer on quad swearing continuously at his dog. Other visits on:- 26-05-1980, 07-02-1982, 22-03-1981,RichardM23/01/2017

From carpark at end of B3357 at Clapper Bridge at SX 67217 73270. ROW to start with then rougher to the top. Down to Lud Gate.Alan Moore01/05/2014
Parking at Combestone Tor gives an easy 5 miles round trip up onto this broad flat hill. Summit marked by trig pillar and boundary stones. We headed up to the summit via Horns Cross and the old tin workings, returning by following parish boundary due N to Horse Ford then contouring back to car park. Bit rough but varied the return.jonglew01/12/2013
Ascent from Skir Hill, cross country. Took care to avoid marshy area at the top of the Avon Head.KatieJayne05/11/2012

Car park to NNE (not the reservoir one) - good path/track until last 1km where it becomes indistinct and soggy. Keeps coming and going in bits - goes all the way to the summit.destaylor29/06/2012
