A circular round of the Blencathra group visiting all the Birketts and Synges in the group, namely: Souther Fell, Souther Fell South Top, Scales Fell, Doddick Fell, Blencathra, Gategill Fell Top, Knowe Crags, Atkinson Pike, Mungrisedale Common, Bannerdale Crags, Bowscale Fell, Bowscale Fell East Top, Bowscale Fell Far East Top, and The Tongue. From Blease Road car park nr FSC Blencathra, with Dave: Knowe Crags - Gategill Fell Top - Blencathra - Atkinson Pike - Mungrisdale Common - Bannerdale Crags - The Tongue - Tarn Crags Top - Bowscale Fell. Dropped down to Cumbria Wa, stayed at Skiddaw House hostel with Bishop, Jago, Steve, Paul, Andy and Tim. No decent path for this one.stevem7617/09/2021

ANOTHER CLEAR, SUNNY DAY BUT VERY WINDY ON THE TOP OF BLENCATHRA. FROM SCALES UP MAIN PATH OVER SCALES FELL (NEW) AND DODDICK FELL (NEW) AND OUT TO BLEASE FELL (NEW). BACK ALONG THE RIDGE TO ATKINSON PIKE AND DOWN TO THE COLL. NEARLY TO BOWSCALE FELL BUT DIVERTED OVER HORRID ROUGH AND BOGGY GROUND TO THE TONGUE (NEW). BACK ONTO BOWSCALE TO REACH BOWSCALE E. TOP (NEW), THEN DOWN GOOD PATH THOUGH VERY STEEP AND SLIDY AT THE END TO BE PICKED UP IN MUNGRISDALE. SHOULD HAVE DONE BOWSCALE E.TOP BEFORE THE TONGUE AND COME DOWN FROM THE LATTER. 5 NEW TOPS.BURGESS18/09/2020

Mungrisdale to Souther Fell to Mungrisdale Common to Bannerdale Crags to Bowscale Fell and back to Mungrisdale (good pub) via The Tongue. There is a path to top from just before 541m spot height. This leads over top and down towards Mungrisdale but I lost it in the bracken so last 50m of descent was wading through brackentrimarc215/07/2019

Sunny synging in July. Parked on grass in Mungrisdale. Then footpath damaged by floods so river crossing required to ascend via The Tongue, then Bowscale Fell, then detour to Tarn Crags Top and Bowscale Fell Far East Top before returning to Bowscale Fell. Continue on to Bannerdale Crags. Then down White Horse Bent before obvious route to Souther Fell South Top and finally Souther Fell before return to Mungrisdale via the Mill Inn.Dugswell217/07/2017
