Skiddaw circuit from High Side. 1 of 11thekirkie pirate24/11/2023
My fourth Wainwright round of the Skiddaw Group from High Side in the north. Visited Watches, Ullock Pike, Long Side, Carl Side, cut across to Skiddaw Little Man and Lesser Man, then along the ridge past Jenkin Hill to Lonscale Fell and Lonscale Pike. Then an about turn below Little Man to the main summit ridge, visiting South Top, Middle Top, Skiddaw Summit, and North Top. Descended over Broad End to Bakestall, and down to the road via Cockup. 20km with 1360m ascent 7hours.silverwolf_alan04/11/2023

DID COCKUP AND WATCHES FROM DIFFERENT LAY-BYS IN LATE AFTERNOON AS AN AFTERTHOUGHT AFTER LOWTHWAITE, RIVINGS AND BURTHWAITE HEIGHTS EARLIER IN THE DAY. COCKUP VERY HARD WORK AND TEDIOUS, WATCHES EASY AND VERY PLEASANT WITH GOOD VIEWS. Solo Ascent from car park at High Side up and along ridge - Watches - Ullock Pike - Long Side - Carl Side and return by same route. 6.75 miles and 870m of ascent in 4hrs:02 mins with 3hrs:16mins moving time. Mist rolling over Carl Side Col most of afternoon. Initially turned around at Long Side because of mist obscuring summit but returned 15 mins later when mist had cleared to reveal Carl Side summit only 0.5 mile further on.pwhitaker_196630/08/2016

From the Ravenstone Hotel up to Ullock Pike, along Longside Edge, Carl Side following the Allerdale ramble footpath up between Skiddaw & Little Man, across to Sale How then Skiddaw House, over the river Caldew the back over Lonscale Fell and down into Costa`s in Keswick. The day started with clear blue skies but cloud increased with altitude, in the cloud at the higher points and light snow flurries. Snow on the ground, spikes were used on steepest sections.mickdavidson27/02/2016
